Today we’d like to introduce you to Candy Nyirenda.
Hi Candy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For me, content creating has never been something that i like grew up knowing i would do or anything like that. When i was like 18/19 years old was when i started seeing girls on Instagram posting their outfits and getting free clothes from clothing brands and i used to say to myself that i could also do the same thing since i knew i have something for fashion. But since i was living in Tanzania, Africa at that time, it wasn’t easy because Tanzania didn’t have a lot of content creators, it wasn’t noticed by international brands and i also wasn’t in a good position financially; I was still posting my outfits on my Instagram though and tagging the brands i could tag. I knew i was gonna move to the US so i decided that when i move here that’s when i’m gonna start taking content creation seriously. I got a tripod and a led light in the second month of moving to the US and that’s what i started with up to this day, definitely not where i want to be but God is good i’m not where i used to be.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely NOT a smooth road; even after moving to the US i still had to look for a job so that i can earn some money to invest in my content. From not having time to film content because of being tired from work, not having the best tools for content, language barrier because as an African, English was definitely not my first language so i felt like i couldn’t pass my message through and ended up not creating some type of content because of that. Also financial challenges which can hinder creating some type of content. But i’m still pushing through the challenges.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a content creator, i create mostly fashion content but also beauty and lifestyle/ self care.
I am proud of myself for actually starting and not giving up on what i love, proud of where i am right now because Candy from last year wouldn’t imagine being where she is right now. I was never confident speaking on camera, but now i’m doing it; scared but still doing it. I don’t care about what people have to say.
What sets me apart from others honestly is ME! like no one can be me or no one can do anything like me humbly speaking. I believe everyone was created uniquely!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Good luck has played the role of giving me the opportunity to move to the US and live my content creation dream.
