Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Clark.
Hi Annie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started listening to the songs my brother played in his room: AC/DC, Ratt, Judas Priest, etc. From a young age, I’ve always loved art, in this case, music. When I went to see AC/DC for the first time, everything clicked. I wanted to do the same, and the next day I started looking for people to form a rock band. I also started writing songs, and after several bands formed and then broke up, I found the perfect people, and we started Shotgun. With Shotgun, we opened for Mike Tramp’s White Lion in Barcelona, Spain. The club was packed. Previously, I was the singer for Hellfire Club, and with that band, we opened for Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses, John Corabi, Jizzy Pearl, and also for Eric Singer’s Project of KISS—Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer. In 2009, I moved to the USA, and after a break from music, I formed Shotgun Superstars. With this band, we’ve played on the East Coast of the USA and in some Midwestern cities like Nashville, Chicago, and Wisconsin. During COVID, since nobody was doing concerts, we took advantage of the situation and played shows almost every week.
Currently, I have two other bands: VELVET STAR, which plays glam and classic rock covers, and ASPHALT VALENTINE, a band that plays original songs.
I am also an actor. Independent films like My Neighbor Is A Witch (premieres in 2026), When the Night Falls (2024), The Client Series (2024-TBA), etc.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The only obstacles or struggles were maybe to find the right people for the bands. We have a specific sound/songs, and these are not the typical songs one can listen to often. With SHOTGUN SUPERSTARS, we cover songs from Swedish bands like Hardcore Superstar, Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Confess, etc., and mostly the guitar players back out because it is not a money maker. We have a group of friends that love this music, and they always come to our shows, and we appreciate that so much. We want that Swedish music to get to the USA people because it is so energetic and different and fun, but we can’t sell out venues, if this makes sense.
I have my greatest’s support beside me, Scott, my husband and rockstar. He is the bass player of all three bands. And my family and friends. You rock.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the singer of all 3 bands: VELVET STAR, SHOTGUN SUPERSTARS, and ASPHALT VALENTINE. I have loved music so much since I was a kid. People say that I look sweet and shy, but when I am onstage, I’m a rockstar. It’s all natural.
I am proud of myself on some personal matters I will not mention here. It’s been rough, and I am still standing, and I am so happy to have so many friends and my husband, Scott, to always be by my side.
About music, what sets me apart from the others… I don’t know; I am just myself onstage. It all comes naturally, and I always give my 100%, and I love to interact with people. I do not stand still singing; I move quite a lot, and I even jump off the stage sometimes. I am just me.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Books: Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles. I’ve been a fan of these since I was a teen. Loving the new TV series Interview With The Vampire.
I don’t really listen to podcasts a lot. I’ve listened to Blood Books and Babbles. They are about the IWTV subject. But music is the inspiration to continue playing, and music makes me happy.
