Rising Stars: Meet Jeff “Yung HD” Childress of Atlanta, Ga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff “Yung HD” Childress.

Hi Jeff “Yung HD”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out with a real passion for music first just experimenting, recording friends, and teaching myself the basics of mixing and production. Over time, I invested in my craft, upgraded my equipment, and worked with more artists. That process opened a lot of doors for me as an audio engineer and producer.

At the same time, I was developing my own sound as an artist. I released music consistently and really focused on understanding how to reach listeners. That journey taught me a lot about branding, strategy, and streaming platforms—and it eventually helped me grow my catalog to over 10 million streams.

That experience changed the way I approach the industry. I’m not just creating music behind the scenes, but also living the artist experience myself. So now, whether I’m engineering, producing, or helping artists with growth strategy, I bring a full perspective—from both the technical side and the artist side.

It’s been a constant process of learning, adapting, and building, and that’s what got me to where I am today and what keeps me going.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve have plenty of struggles from legal trouble, divorce, deaths and all kinds of other traumatic experiences. I almost died in Northside Hospital from Stomach Ulcers I’ve literally been through it all. That never really stopped me from doing music and from keeping my work ethic up. I have a picture of me in the ICU making a beat lol no joke I wanted music to be the last thing I was doing if I ain’t make it that’s how passionate I am.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my work, I wear a few different hats that all connect back to helping artists create and grow. I’m an audio engineer, music producer, and artist. I specialize in taking an idea from rough concept to a fully polished, market-ready record. Whether it’s recording, mixing, or building a track from scratch, I focus on making music that feels clean, professional, and unique to each artist.

I’m also known for understanding the business and digital side of music. Because I built my own catalog independently earning over 10 million streams. Working with major artist like NoCap, Yung Bleu, Rylo Rodriguez and more before and after they were successful I’ve learned firsthand what it takes to get traction, build momentum, and stand out online. That experience lets me help artists not only sound good, but also position themselves for real growth.

What I’m most proud of is being able to do all of this independently. I’ve built my skills, my sound, and my audience from the ground up. Seeing artists trust me with their work and seeing my own music connect with millions of listeners means a lot.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just an engineer or just an artist I’m both. I understand the technical side of making great music, and I also understand the emotional, creative, and strategic side of releasing it. That dual perspective lets me bring a more complete, hands-on approach to every project I touch.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The biggest shift is AI I really just hope people don’t fall in love with artificial intelligence and actually want to still hear and see real artists in the next 5-10 years. It’s not looking good honestly I’ve been trying to adapt but I’m too passionate to use AI it takes away from the creative process. Everybody feels like they can cut corners and save money using AI and that threatens our jobs.
