Life & Work with Kamille Harvey of Tallahassee, Orlando, and Jacksonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamille Harvey.

Hi Kamille , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When COVID-19 first broke out, I was just a freshman in college. By then, all college students were sent home for what ended up being the entire second half of my first year. One year later, we still weren’t cleared to return to campus. During that long stretch of lockdown, I found myself diving deep into YouTube—skincare routines, GRWMs, mini self-care step, anything that brought a sense of peace and normalcy.
Eventually, I bought my first mini facial steamer, some tools, and a few skincare products from Amazon. I started practicing on my best friend, and instantly, something clicked. I loved it. But I also knew I didn’t want to offer services without real training or proper licensure. So I enrolled in esthetician school.
As COVID-19 began to ease, I graduated from esthetician school in December 2021—and without hesitation, I started my business. This December marks four years since I took that leap, and I’ve been growing, learning, and pouring into my craft ever since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road wasn’t always as smooth. As a first-generation college student at FAMU, balancing school while also running a business and working a regular job was definitely challenging. I was wearing every hat in my business—owner, marketer, service provider—all while trying to keep up with classes and life. But through it all, the support and love from my clients, family, and friends kept me grounded. Their encouragement is what truly mattered most and what pushed me to keep going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Licensed Esthetician specializing in clinical skincare, overall skin health, body waxing, corrective facial treatments, and offering quality skincare products for both men and women. Being in college allowed me to provide affordable services to other students who wanted to invest in their self-care and maintenance. I truly believe everyone deserves to look good and feel good—especially college students, who face unique challenges and stress.
That’s what I’m most proud of: being someone others can turn to after a long day, someone who can give them a moment of peace, confidence, and care. I’ve always aimed to keep my services accessible so people can feel comfortable and confident in their own skin without worrying about cost.
As a graduate of the #1 HBCU in America, I’m proud to show others that starting a business—or growing one—while pursuing a degree is absolutely possible. My journey is a reminder that with passion, consistency, and support, you can build something meaningful even while balancing school, work, and life.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
