Meet Marcus Burton of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Burton.

Marcus Burton

Hi Marcus, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
What’s up, I’m Marcus aka LetMCook, upcoming producer originating out of southeast DC & eventually ended up here in ATL back in 2009. At that time, I focused on creating digital art until an I had a sudden interest in music after I befriended some others who were already producing. I started practicing production on FL Studio almost daily. Then August of 2020 is when I became serious about production after I briefly met the rapper CEO Trayle one night while working a security job in Atlanta, January of that year. But some of my musical influences are my own brother EastsideLotto, of course CEO Trayle, Skrilla, Lucki, Loe Shimmy, Icytwat, FoxBD, Jorjiana, Earl Sweatshirt & many others.

“Life’s simple, you make choices & you don’t look back”. -LetMCook

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been the smoothest road to becoming a professional producer. There are levels of discipline that I had to gain within myself to have the mindset & mental structure to be able to create the music & manage the time used for my craft.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an upcoming freelance music producer who specializes in creating instrumentals for artists of the trap, r&b & hip-hop genres that are popular currently. I’m mostly known for my trap instrumentals that I upload to BeatStars.com. I’m most proud of never giving up & always staying true to myself when I have a goal I want to fulfill. That kind of mindset separates me from others because I have a fire inside that most people won’t recognize unless they’re musically-inclined as I am.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My best advice for anyone who’s just starting out: “never give up”. I feel as though that is the main ingredient to the recipe of life.
