Conversations with Tashia Tate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tashia Tate.

Tashia Tate

Hi Tashia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story began as a young college student who had a love for filming. I began my journey of getting my degree in Film & Technology at Southern Crescent Tech. It was then that I realized there was a way to combine my two childhood passions. Videography and modifying cars, I took my education and started building an online community for others inspired to learn about film and customizing their cars.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Adversity has come my way, yes. However, I find it more productive to focus on what’s ahead rather than behind. Being in two industries that are highly male driven does come with challenges. Unacceptance as well as doubt, and there have been multiple times I’ve wanted to give up and quit. Yet I just want to be able to open doors and inspire also remind other young ladies or women to go after what others may think isn’t for them and continue to teach that you can do anything you put your mind to with work behind it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the executive director of my multiple businesses, their duties persist of publishing, advocacy, public works, and enthusiast of motorsport events. I am currently known for as a young lady with wheels and a dream. When I’m not perfecting my craft in music, you can find me under the hood of a car, channeling my passion for restoring and customizing rides. Whether it’s in the studio, or the garage, I’m always working on something fresh and exciting. I’m most proud of the path that has exposed itself to me. The people I have found and made community with, as well as my mentors that inspire me every day.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Create what you want, build what you want, mold things in a way of your wildest dreams. Because everything that is or was began with a dream. We are constanly always standing in someones once idea to become a reality. All you need is to get up and go out find community and utilize the resources that are around you. Trust and believe they are there you just have to look. Go to your local librairies and check out some books in your intrest and take it from there.
