Today we’d like to introduce you to Tornado Da Kang.
Hi Tornado , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Im a 478 native from Washington county the city?? Tennille where chances are small and ratio of makin it out are even smaller. I was born to do music to be honest I naturally had the abilities I could always dance I could rap at the age of 9 by 14 I was battling rappers in my neighborhood and school WINNING makin a name for myself by graduation I was a known freestyler in my city I went to college honed my skills wit music Dropboi Deezy taught me how to count bars I was jus goin at ppl heads I didnt understand song structure or anything from an artist perspective and he taught me and helped me create the artist I am today by helping become a better artist than I thought I was and I became great
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Family let downs…lack of support….. naysayers. People have tried hold back info from me because they wanted it for themselves. Labelmates stopped supporting because I was elevating and not them…..DEATH! There’s soooo many obstacles I encountered and still
am encountering
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being that I can rap sing and act and dance play instruments I jus call myself an entertainer. Im not just a rapper or singer or any regular artist because im not limiting myself or boxing myself im multi-talented and I am going to use every talent I have if Im able to employ them. I’m most known for rapping and singing and keeping people entertained. The thing im most proud of is thay people can listen to my music and get inspired or be touched by the words or jus picturing what im saying and can see the picture of the story im painting. Hearing people who dont know and having that kind of connection to each individual is something special and its also why I havent given up musically because I get asked alot “why aren’t you a big rapper yet? You’re better than alot of these people they play on the radio” I jus say the world hasn’t heard me yet but they will. What sets me apart is I pride myself on being different sounding different keeping my country drawl and my heavy southern accent with my hometown street Lingo people are gravitating to it because I am remaining a thoroughly southern country boy who is from the street and from the sticks but who also can make u dance if he sings and raps a lil bit
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Just keep going where your purpose leads you! Dont listen to people who can’t do what you do but have input on how to do what you do they are really haters because they dont have the talent and they figure they can teach you when they cant. And lastly Go where you are celebrated and not tolerated your mind and will is very sacred treat it as such!! Never compromise your integrity and dignity for anyone people will use them for leverage
