David Anthony shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi David, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day what is that…lol A normal day for me is simple yet impactful. It always begins in prayer and devotional time. Then good christian music and coffee. my breakfast depends on my mood I love a hot morning shower it wakes me up. I don’t check any emails, calls, texts, social media, or look at my bank account or other debit card balances until I’m out of devotion. From there either I’ve prepped my outfit the night before if I have personal or business plans. Throughout the day’ it’s being careful whose or what type of energy or atmosphere I’m in that will affect the outcome of my day. I do always stay on top of all things fashion and Entertainment, Spiritual and Inspirational. Good food and good conversations are important. Most of all who, what, when, where, and how I can be impactful or serve from the heart and how God leads me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Prior to moving from New York to Atlanta in 2010. I worked as a Model, A Dancer on MTV and then as a Dancer and MC/Host briefly as a DJ, in the social Entertainment industry, toping it off by Becoming The Director of Entertainment for Hal Prince Music and Entertainment. landing in Atlanta in 2010, I flew back and forth until June of 2012 to complete contracted gigs, and started in the TV and Movie business. In 2018 I rebranded my business from Wardrobe Styling and Personal Shopping to offering an array of services, such as Image Consulting, social Media branding/Content Creating, Wardrobe closet Makeovers. I was working a lot in the TV and Movie industry on the Production side as a PA and Assisting in other areas, as well as being highly featured in several TV and Movie productions and doing background and stand in work, also working as a Senior Event Manager for a Event planning and Design Company (Melin Michelle). getting my first screen credit for a Movie called Office Secrets (now on Amazon Prime) as Costume Designer and Head of the Wardrobe Department (thank you Taylor Made Film Company) I took all that learned knowledge and wisdom and enhanced my brand now known as David Anthony Image Consulting . I now had a broader understanding of who and what was needed for my clients with an increased skill set and connections.
In 2022 (July 4th) I was in a car accident that led to some serious medical complications then 3 Covid diagnoses that led to more serious complications. It has taken almost 3 years to re-cover and re-build my self spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally from the trauma. Now I’m working on rebuilding my Brand, My Finances, and a few other things. I just took on a new client and Collaborative business partner (Robert Earl) who is younger and brings more of a youthful and spiritually gifted creative intellect to the creative process. God has downloaded a few awe inspiring ides for the next faze of David Anthony.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
This is a powerful Question. My best Friend Janel C Scarborough and My Sister in Spirit Melinda Brundidge. These 2 hands down Looked beyond the frame of David and saw the True Gifts that God freely gave me and have always consistently without fail answerd the call of God to be there for me personally and professionally. They have sown so much God into me. They hold me accountable and tell me the ruth even if it hurts. I am for ever thankful . Now My family and other friends have stepped up and a host of help from other creatives and special people. No man is an island and I could not have come this far without my God ordered village. Recently my new Client Robert Earl, now Creative business partner has opened up my eyes for me to see more of my potential
A Special Shout out to Dorian Owens of Unhindered Creations and Miracle Of Capturing The Miracle-who both shot me in photos during my Re-Branding process prior to me becoming ill. Those photos are now being used during this season of refining showing me that they Captured me then with Unhindered Grace so that I can see the Miracle power of how God sees me. They saw me before I saw me.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Ohhhh yes. During my trial with the medical issues from 2022-2023 in Emory Hospital and Grady Hospital’s, and during my recovery from March of 2023-March Of 2024 in Legacy Transitional Facility In Atlanta. I tried to throw in the towel, but GOD said OH NO my son, and threw it back at me and said wipe that sweat off of your forehead and dry those tears from your eyes. Now Get up there is more for you to do. Mind you I lost the ability to walk, talk write and feed my self. Then My aunt who visited me on a regular basis showed up with my Mac Book ( a gift from an Angel named Danyel) my Ipad and chargers and told me to go for it. God had me deep dive into re-learning and newly learning all of the apps and tricks and proper ways to create content and advertisements for my business and social media pages. Once I began to regain physical and mental strength I saw that I had created a plethora of content for NOW, that keeps on growing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I just asked a friend if the public version of me is the real me and they answered yes, and I asked them to tell me how and why . They answered because I’m not fake. I show it because my actions match my Words and anything I say I can do, I do it. I lead with and Authentic and open heart and mind. For me it stars with Faith then I see the Vision and it Ends in perfect Fashion. I aim to Enhance the Minds Eye and help create and Impactful Style.. I don’t do fake and I wont create fake. I can only see and create what God allows me to see hence the Business name David Anthony IC (what do my eyes See).
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people will tell the story of a man who showed up not for shine or hand claps, but a man that showed up with respect to the gifts, talents and abilities that God so freely gave him that he used in service to others. I aim to be impactful in the lives of others.
