We’re looking forward to introducing you to Katrina Flucas Ed.D.. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Katrina , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 minutes set the tone for everything I do—personally and professionally. I’m a planner at heart, so I structure my mornings with intention. I begin with prayer and quiet reflection, grounding myself spiritually before stepping into the demands of the day. From there, twice per week I meet with my personal trainer for a 30 minute focused workout that keeps me energized and disciplined.
Once I’m back home, I review my calendar and the alarm reminders I set the night before, ensuring I stay ahead of client needs and deadlines. I also take a few minutes to connect with my husband so we’re aligned on family priorities and anything that requires our immediate attention.
Before I dive into client work, I review the current market conditions—rates, trends, and opportunities—so I can guide my clients with the most accurate and up-to-date information. Then I join our team huddle at Safetrust Mortgage, where we align on goals, updates, and ways to better support the families we serve.
By the time those 90 minutes are complete, I’m fully centered, informed, and ready to focus on what truly matters in my business: serving clients with excellence, supporting partners with consistency, and strengthening relationships in every direction.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Katrina Flucas, and I serve as a Senior Loan Officer with Safetrust Mortgage under my professional brand, Loans By Katrina. I am also the Minister for the Young Adult Ministry at The Olivet Church in Fayetteville, Georgia a calling that fuels my passion for empowering, uplifting, and genuinely supporting people in every season of life.
Beyond titles and business, I am deeply family-centered. I am a wife to my incredible husband, Frank, a mother to my amazing son, Kinan, and a proud Nana to my precious granddaughter, Paris. Family is everything to me they are my grounding force, my joy, and the “why” behind how I show up every day. The strength and support of my family allow me to pour into others with empathy, intention, and love.
Although Loans By Katrina officially launched in 2021 when I stepped into mortgage origination, my roots in real estate run deep. Since 2007, I’ve worked as a licensed real estate agent and investor, gaining a full picture of what buyers, sellers, and realtors truly need to succeed. When I transitioned into lending, it wasn’t just a career move it was a purpose move. I desired more freedom, deeper fulfillment, and a way to use my gifts more intentionally. A trusted friend introduced me to the lending world, and the moment I stepped in, everything aligned: my expertise, my calling, and my heart for serving people with excellence.
What makes my brand special is the “why” behind it.
The Loans By Katrina Experience is built on three pillars—Access, Honesty, and Knowledge. I don’t operate on “bank hours.” I’m the loan officer who answers the phone, responds to texts, and shows up when my clients and partners need me most. I don’t believe in rushed pre-qualifications every buyer I work with receives a fully vetted pre-approval so they can shop with confidence and submit stronger, more competitive offers.
My approach is personal. Relational. Intentional.
I meet people exactly where they are whether they are first-time buyers, seasoned investors, families rebuilding credit, or homeowners preparing to refinance. I walk with them, educate them, and advocate for them. My commitment stretches far beyond the closing table, because for me, this work is not transactional… it’s transformational.
Today, I am deeply focused on expanding my realtor partner network and continuing to build generational relationships rooted in trust, service, and genuine care. Realtors choose to partner with me because they know their clients will be seen, heard, protected, and guided with excellence—not just processed. Buyers choose me because they feel safe, supported, and empowered to pursue homeownership with confidence.
Loans By Katrina isn’t just about home financing.
It’s about creating access, building trust, and helping families step into stability, opportunity, and generational wealth with someone in their corner who truly cares.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was around eight years old when my track team and I were featured in the local newspaper. Seeing myself in print at such a young age made me feel seen, capable, and special. But even more impactful were the voices behind that moment—my coaches, Coach Hugh Brown and the late Coach Leo Williams.
They consistently spoke life into me. They didn’t just coach my speed; they nurtured my confidence, my leadership, and my belief in myself. They pointed out qualities in me that I hadn’t yet recognized and affirmed that I had something unique to offer the world.
In that season, I didn’t have the language for it, but I knew deep down that God had plans for me that stretched far beyond the track or anything I could imagine at the time. That early affirmation planted a seed of purpose and power that I still carry with me today.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
One of the most significant times I changed my mind was about my career. My professional background is in education, and for years, I believed that being a Special Education Director was my dream job—the role I had worked so hard to reach. But about eight years ago, I realized that the cost was far greater than the title. It was costing me peace, time, and the balance my family deserved.
Walking away from a career I had invested so much into was not an easy decision. It required honesty, humility, and a willingness to admit that what I once wanted was no longer aligned with the life God was calling me to live. Choosing my well-being and my family over my old definition of success was a major shift.
In that moment, I had to trust God wholeheartedly—that His plans were bigger, better, and far more purposeful than the ones I had constructed for myself. Looking back, it was one of the most pivotal decisions I ever made. That step of faith opened the door to a life of greater freedom, alignment, and purpose, eventually leading me into the work I do today as a Senior Loan Officer and as a minister.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Two truths anchor my life, even though I don’t often say them out loud. The first is the importance of showing up authentically for the people I love…my family, my friends, and my community. Authenticity isn’t just a value; it’s a responsibility. The people connected to me deserve the real me: present, honest, consistent, and grounded.
The second foundational truth is that time is the most valuable gift I possess and it’s the one thing I can never get back. I protect my time fiercely because it shapes my peace, my purpose, and the quality of my relationships. Guarding my time allows me to pour into the people and assignments that matter most.
These truths guide the way I lead, love, work, and live even when I’m not consciously thinking about them.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I believe people will remember me as a woman who was deeply committed—to God, to her family, and to the people she was called to serve. They’ll say I showed up fully and consistently, not for recognition, but because integrity mattered to me. When I loved you, I loved you with everything in me. I wasn’t a halfway person—I was all in or not at all, always clear, always intentional.
They will say I loved the Lord unapologetically and let that love guide how I led, worked, and lived. They’ll remember me as someone who poured into her marriage, her children, her ministry, and her community with her whole heart—balancing strength and softness, wisdom and grace, faith and action.
My clients and realtor partners will have their own part of the story to tell. They’ll say I advocated for them, educated them, and guided them with honesty and excellence. That I answered the late-night questions, celebrated the wins, and stood with them during the tough moments. They’ll say I went beyond the transaction—that I built relationships, not files. That I was reliable, accessible, and committed to helping families build stability and generational wealth.
They’ll remember me as someone who made them feel seen, supported, and empowered every step of the way.
In every facet of my life, I hope the story is consistent:
She loved well. She served well.
And she fulfilled the assignment God placed on her life.
