Conversations with Melissa Katz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Katz.

Hi Melissa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a graphic designer, nature lover, and founder of Just Do Good Design Co. After 10 years leading in-house design for a variety of industries, I set out on my own to focus on what matters most to me: using my design skills to support nonprofits, conservation groups, and changemakers working to make the world better.

As early as I can remember, I wanted to go to China and save the pandas. In 2012, that dream became a reality when I won a contest to become a giant panda ambassador. I lived in China, worked at the Chengdu Panda Base, and traveled the globe advocating for pandas and conservation.

That experience shaped how I see the world—and my passion for conservation and advocacy has only grown stronger.

​Today, I use the power of visual storytelling to help organizations protect our planet and drive meaningful change.
I’m a Girl Scout at heart—raised to leave a place better than I found it. Good design can do that.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an interesting road and I’m here for the journey along the way. My goal is to grow my cilent base and gain a reputation for doing good work in the environmental nonprofit space. I’ve been focused on that goal from day 1 and continue to focus on that.

I founded Just Do Good Design Co. with a simple belief: powerful stories, impactful experiences, and clear communication can change the world. I collaborate with environmental nonprofits and purpose-driven brands to craft thoughtful design solutions that amplify their mission and inspire action.
