Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Busssey.
Hi Kiara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed there’s more than one way up the mountaintop. If something doesn’t work for me, I just find a new route — especially if I know that calling is mine. I’m not afraid to start over, switch paths, or build something from scratch. Because when I know God placed something on my heart, I trust that it’s for me.
People call me the multifaceted baddie, and honestly, I wear that name with pride. I’m an esthetician, a model, a teacher, a business owner, and a creative. I run a cleaning business, a photography business, and I still make time for my faith through Bible study. I do a lot — but every single thing I do connects back to purpose.
My modeling journey started back in college. After I graduated with my degree in Mass Communication with a focus in Film, I knew I wanted to pursue modeling and film more seriously. I moved back home to Atlanta, a city that’s full of opportunity for people like me who dream big.
At first, it wasn’t easy. I wasn’t even on Instagram at the time, so I started booking gigs through Eventbrite. I didn’t have a portfolio, and because of COVID, I didn’t get much modeling experience in college. Honestly, I was just going off my pretty face and faith. But once I started posting my photos on Instagram again, everything changed — I began getting booked left and right. My portfolio grew fast, and my name started circulating in Atlanta’s creative scene.
But with every new level comes new lessons. There was a time when I wasn’t getting paid for anything. I didn’t have a car, so I spent a lot of money on Ubers just to make it to shows or shoots. That’s when I had to really sit down and think — how can I chase this dream without going broke? So I decided to shift my focus from runway to print modeling, because that’s where the money was flowing and where I could continue growing my brand.
My faith has been a huge part of my journey — honestly, the foundation of it all. In this industry, it’s not just about what you know, it’s about who you know. And as a new model in Atlanta, trying to stand out among thousands of others, I had to remind myself constantly that what’s meant for me will always find me. If I don’t get booked, then that opportunity wasn’t mine. If I do get booked, then I take it as a blessing and give it my all.
Every day I pray for preparation — not just for the goals I have now, but for the ones I can’t even see coming yet. I’ve learned that when I stay rooted in faith and not fear, things start shifting in my favor.
Right now, I’m focused on growing in all areas of my life — my career, my mental health, my finances, and my faith. I’ve taken a small break from modeling to focus on becoming a stronger esthetician and businesswoman, but the industry keeps calling me back. I plan to return soon, bigger and better — with an updated portfolio and a clear vision of what I want.
My ultimate goal is to be an all-around business baddie mogul — managing multiple businesses, traveling, creating, and inspiring others. I still plan to pursue film, build my beauty brand, and expand my businesses. I don’t want to limit myself to one lane, because I know I’m capable of doing it all through Christ.
Being multifaceted isn’t about doing everything at once — it’s about walking confidently in every calling God gives you. And as long as I keep my faith first, I know every door meant for me will open in His timing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful. I’ve faced plenty of obstacles — from not having a car when I first started modeling, to coming out of pocket for Ubers just to make it to shoots, to not getting paid for my work early on. I didn’t have a solid portfolio or much experience because of COVID, so in the beginning, I was really operating off my pretty face and faith.
There were moments of rejection and discouragement, especially when I wasn’t getting booked or when I felt overlooked in such a competitive industry. But I’ve learned to look at those moments differently. I truly believe that when you’re getting closer to your purpose, certain things will try to distract or discourage you — but that’s just confirmation that you’re on the right path.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth, but every bump has taught me resilience, patience, and trust in God’s timing. Those challenges shaped me into who I am — a woman who knows that even if one door closes, another one will always open if it’s meant for me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
multifaceted creative — an esthetician, model, teacher, and business owner. I run a cleaning and photography business, and I’m passionate about all things beauty, fashion, and film. What sets me apart is that everything I do comes from a place of faith, purpose, and authenticity. I’m proud of how I’ve built my brand from the ground up — not just by chasing opportunities, but by creating them. I lead with intention, keep God at the center, and always find a way to make things happen, even when the odds are stacked against me.
Any big plans?
Right now I’m focusing on my esthetician license . This a step towards my multi business entrepreneur campaign. I have decided to slide back in to modeling but I’m taking things slow while i achieve this mile stone. Im also still grieving so I have some unfinished plans i started in the beginning of the year that i want to pick back up on like my short film and my night time podcast . I hope to have those launched sometime next year !
