Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Harris.
Hi Shaun, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely. My journey began long before I ever imagined it would become my life’s work. I was born and raised in Chicago, and my passion for teaching showed up early—at just 13 years old, I began working with children. That early exposure led me to study Early Childhood Development, and from there, doors began opening. I was entrusted with leadership roles in the preschool industry and eventually became the Director of an Atlanta preschool, where I helped increase enrollment by 98%. That growth earned recognition from the mayor and opened the door for me to become a consultant for the city—training directors, teachers, and daycare owners on creative, effective curriculum strategies.
Over the years, my desire to understand and support people more deeply pushed me to expand my education. I earned a master’s in business administration, a master’s in science and psychology, and became a Board-Certified Mental Health Coach in several areas. Today, I serve as a Special Education Teacher in the public school system, where I’m proud to say that 100% of my students develop a genuine love for learning and show progress in the classroom. My greatest passion is helping women, children, teens, and families build healthy relationships, strengthen communication, and navigate challenges related to anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflict.
In 2020, after being terminated form a State Mental Health Hospital after being bullied and physically assaulted by my supervisor . I founded B-Mighty Enterprises, the umbrella organization for Harris Counseling Services, B-Mighty Tutoring, Touch of Love Foundation, and the Motherless Daughters Support Group. I also host a weekly radio show, “Saturdays with Shaun,” on WAAW Shout 94.7 Fm Radio where I encourage self-love, self-care, and personal growth.
My path has been shaped by service, education, and a genuine love for helping others thrive—and every chapter has led me to the work I’m blessed to do today.
While working in the public school system in Georgia, I quickly noticed significant disparities in the care and support students received. In my experience, some administrators did not uphold the spirit of “No Child Left Behind,” as many students were not getting the services they needed to truly thrive. I also observed a substantial lack of training for teachers—particularly when it came to effectively supporting students with special needs and disabilities.
Coming from one of the top school districts in the world, located in Chicago—one deeply committed to serving children with special needs—along with my medical training, I had been thoroughly prepared to provide the kind of exceptional care that students in the RCBOE school system rarely received.
However, after sustaining an injury in the classroom—my 17th—due to the failure of administration, district leadership, program chairs, and principals to ensure a safe environment for both me and the students, I realized that I could no longer do the work I loved safely within the RCBOE system.
This experience inspired me to create an organization that allows me to advocate for children and provide the mental, emotional, and academic support they need and deserve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped the work I do today. One of my biggest struggles came from witnessing the gaps in support for students—especially those with special needs—in the public-school systems where I worked. It was difficult to watch children go without the services, training, or care they needed to thrive, and even harder to be in environments where advocating for them sometimes felt like an uphill battle where I was retaliated for protecting the children in my care.
Another major challenge was ensuring my own safety. Despite raising concerns, there were repeated situations where proper protections and support weren’t in place, and I sustained multiple injuries in the classroom as a result. The final injury made it clear that the system wasn’t providing a safe or sustainable environment for me or the students I served.
Those moments were painful and discouraging, but they also pushed me toward my purpose. They motivated me to build something better—an organization that allows me to advocate, uplift, and support children in the ways they deserve. The road hasn’t been easy, but it has been meaningful, and it’s led me to work that aligns deeply with my passion and calling.
Working within a state mental health organization that caused significant mental and emotional harm to me—and to many others—was deeply traumatic and weighed heavily on my spirit. The lack of accountability and justice I witnessed in Georgia has been very concerning. Even so, I remain committed to operating with integrity. I follow policies and procedures, even when doing so has resulted in unfair consequences, because I want to model honesty, resilience, and ethical behavior for the children and families I serve.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
B-Mighty Enterprises Inc. was created with one clear mission: to provide a safe, compassionate space where individuals can cultivate mental wellness, heal from emotional wounds, and reclaim their sense of peace and purpose. Our work is rooted in hope, empowerment, and the belief that everyone deserves access to high-quality support—especially children, teens, and families who are often overlooked or underserved.
Our mission extends beyond mental health—we are committed to nurturing the whole child. We strive to build relationships that inspire a strong foundation for academic success. Our belief is simple: every student has the potential to thrive. By providing a balanced curriculum in a nurturing environment, we create spaces where children feel confident, supported, and genuinely excited about learning.
At B-Mighty, we offer a wide range of mental and emotional health services through our counseling programs, support groups, and educational initiatives. We specialize in crisis support, work-related stress, coping strategies, anger and grief management, trauma recovery, and relationship issues. We are also deeply committed to supporting children and adolescents, particularly those facing behavioral challenges, anxiety, panic, self-esteem issues, and lingering stress from the pandemic.
What truly sets us apart is our holistic, heart-centered approach. We merge clinical insight, educational expertise, and real-world experience to meet individuals exactly where they are—mentally, emotionally, and academically. Our work is not just about managing symptoms; it’s about nurturing growth, building confidence, and equipping clients with tools for long-term resilience.
A major component of our work is confidence coaching, which focuses on helping individuals develop strong self-esteem and a positive inner voice. Through this coaching, we help clients challenge limiting beliefs, build a healthy self-image, and cultivate a mindset that supports emotional stability, self-love, and personal success.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the integrity of our brand. B-Mighty stands for resilience, compassion, and intentional care. Through Harris Counseling Services, B-Mighty Tutoring, Touch of Love Foundation, the Motherless Daughters Support Group, and our “Saturdays with Shaun” radio show, we strive to raise awareness about self-care and to inspire hope and healing in every person we serve.
What I want readers to know is this: B-Mighty is more than an organization—it’s a movement. A place where mental health is nurtured, where confidence is built, and where children, teens, and families receive the academic, emotional, and psychological support they truly deserve. Our doors are open to anyone seeking guidance, encouragement, and a path toward healing and empowerment.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Absolutely—giving back to the community is at the heart of everything we do, and it’s something I’m incredibly proud of. For the past six years, B-Mighty has hosted our annual B-Mighty Christmas Toy Giveaway specifically for children with special needs and disabilities. It’s one of our most meaningful traditions, and seeing the joy on their faces reminds us why our work matters.
We also extend support throughout the year. We provide Easter baskets for children in foster care, Valentine’s treats for children in oncology hospitals, and Back-to-School supplies for families in need. Each October, we offer safe candy and activities for children during fall festivals, ensuring all kids—especially those with sensory, dietary, or mobility challenges—can participate safely and joyfully.
In addition to our mental health and educational services, we are passionate about supporting the arts. We regularly uplift creative expression through stage plays, benefit concerts, and community events that celebrate healing, storytelling, and culture.
At B-Mighty, we believe that service is love in action. Every initiative, big or small, reflects our commitment to empowering families, uplifting children, and strengthening our community in meaningful and lasting ways.
