Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Nicole LaBeach.
Hi Dr. Nicole, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born to Caribbean parents with an incredibly high work ethic, but neither of them were able to go to college. From very early on, I understood that education would be a key part of my living up to my potential and cultivating my gifts. That understanding led me to a pivotal decision: Where I would go to school.
Desiring to attend Spelman College was not a simple “apply and see what happens” process for me. My story of how I ended up there is really a story of persistence, grace, and divine order. I was not the obvious choice on paper, but the Director of Admissions—who held that role for only one year—had a single conversation with me and decided to bet on me. That one decision changed the trajectory of my life and deeply shaped the way I now see the power of advocacy, access, and aligned faith.
From Spelman, I went on to graduate school at Saint Louis University. I moved to St. Louis not knowing a single person. At that time, I thought I would become a clinical psychologist—every mentor I had was in that field, and I was doing well. But over time, I realized I was drawn not only to helping individuals but also to understanding the dynamics of groups, organizations, and systems. That realization led me to organizational psychology and to becoming a hybrid: clinically trained, but working in the discipline of organizational psychology.
That shift helped me see clearly that people need support both personally and professionally. People need safe places to grow in business and in their relationships. And, they also need tools, coaching, mentorship, sponsors, allies, therapy, community, and the like to come into the fullness of themselves. The clear revelation for me was the need to see the “whole person” and the “whole system”, which was a defining lens for me.
That lens moved me from the individual therapeutic sector and brought me into the corporate space. I left St. Louis University and became Manager of Training and Organizational Development for News Corporation, which owned multiple networks and media businesses (e.g., Fox News, Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Sports, and various others). I was promoted to Director and was doing important work, but I also felt a stirring that there was more.
Then 9/11 happened. As a media network, our programming stopped for a season, and the organization lost a significant amount of revenue. As part of restructuring, my department was closed, and I was laid off. On paper, that could have looked like a setback—but it turned out to be a divine pivot.
Before I could pack my boxes, I was offered a bigger role as a director at another network with more money, more visibility, and all the bells and whistles. But spiritually, it didn’t feel like a God “Yes.” So, in a few minutes of courage, I turned that offer down and chose the leap: Entrepreneurship.
That decision birthed what is now more than two decades of leading Volition Enterprises, Inc., www.volitionenterprises.com a premier management consulting and executive coaching firm that partners with executives, leaders, and teams to unlock leadership excellence, accelerate team performance, and drive measurable growth with expert coaching, consulting, and transformative retreats.
Today, Volition is a certified WBE, MBE, and WOSB firm with more than 300+ years of combined coaching and consulting experience across our team. We serve Fortune 500 companies, growth-focused small and mid-sized businesses, and mission-driven organizations, helping them lead with clarity, confidence, and impact in both business and relationships.
I now have the privilege of leading a company with approximately 50 certified executive coaches, organizational development consultants, and seasoned master trainers who, together, help leaders and teams transform how they show up at work and at home. Whether it’s executive coaching, strategic consulting, or retreat-based experiences, my journey has always been about the same thing: being persistent, having a high work ethic, and listening to my faith—even when my knees are shaking—and trusting that God’s plans for my life are “ALL” good.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been smooth, but it has been divinely orchestrated and deeply providential.
My parents always said Jesus didn’t have a smooth road, so we can’t expect to have one. Look, I come from immigrant parents. I am African-American. And, I am a woman. No one ever sold me the idea that “smooth” was going to be my path.
What I have experienced, though, is the incredible gift of people. I’ve had mentors who helped me navigate the rough patches and people who gave me a shot. I’ve had teachers who built my competence, and leaders who helped me cultivate my gifts so I could grow into my own shoes with a level of maturity, readiness, and groundedness. I’ve had people make themselves available as resources—to me, for me, and with me—so that I wouldn’t quit when things felt hard.
Every major decision in my life has included some version of stretch: a stretch toward deeper faith, a stretch toward being more fully myself, a stretch toward understanding my own character. The layoff, the career pivots, the moments where I had to turn down “shiny” offers that didn’t align with my spirit—all of those were challenging yet necessary in their own way.
For me, it’s been the moments where I had to have grit, be intentional, and show up afraid that built the muscle I carry into every room today. Because I’ve been in rooms where I didn’t know how things would unfold, I now know I can be in just about any room—and hold the space, mind, body, and spirit.
Those experiences are also what make me effective as a coach and change agent. When I sit with a CEO facing a major transformation, a woman leader navigating burnout, or a couple trying to reset their relationship, I’m not coaching them from theory. I’m coaching them from a life that has required courage, conviction, and faith in motion.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What I do, what I specialize in, and what I’m known for
At my core, I am a Master Coach. Whether I’m moving in ministry, with a team, leader, a couple, or in my personal life, I’m still a coach. I am an encourager, a change agent, and a curious soul who holds the space for people to go after what is most meaningful to them. I’m always seeking to help people move—move forward, move up, and move into who they were truly created and called to be.
Professionally, I serve as CEO of Volition Enterprises, Inc. Our team offers management consulting, executive and professional coaching, leadership development, and curated retreat services. We specialize in unlocking leadership excellence, accelerating team performance, and driving measurable growth with executive coaching, consulting, and transformative retreats.
Our firm is an organizational development leader in change management, leadership development, and executive and professional coaching. With approximately 50 certified executive coaches, organizational development consultants, and seasoned master trainers, we support leaders and teams across Fortune 500 companies, growth-oriented small and mid-sized businesses, and mission-driven organizations.
As part of the team, I’m widely recognized as a Master Coach. For nearly two decades, I’ve led the charge in coaching executives, individuals, and couples in both their business and relationship wins.
As a media personality and thought leader, my expertise has inspired audiences on platforms such as the Oprah Winfrey Network’s hit show “Put A Ring On It,” the Tamron Hall Show, Good Morning America, Access Hollywood, the Steve Harvey Morning Show, and CBS Radio, among others. These outlets trusted me to speak the truth with love—to be a straight shooter whose coaching helps people see what’s possible and then move toward it. Always holding the space for people’s growth, peace, and freedom – That’s the lens through which I look at almost everything.
What I’m most proud of
What I am most proud of is the community I’ve been able to create that is directly connected to my authentic self. My community is not built on any persona. It’s not built on who I hope to be someday. It’s built on who I actually am.
In many ways, it reflects this simple truth: I like me, and they like me too—and it’s truly me. It’s an intentional choice to be in community and relationship together.
That community shows up not only in our corporate engagements, but also in the curated retreat experiences. Women who join us on our “Just Be” Retreats in Aruba, Soft Power Retreat in Costa Rica, and the YUMMY (Your Ultimate Most Meaningful Yet) platform, which I co-lead with Crystal Khalil, quickly adopt our mantra “Free Women, Free Women and Legacy” as their own. Our amazing partnership creates transformational spaces where people reset, rise, and reclaim everything they were made for—breaking barriers, building legacies, and unleashing their fullest potential in business, relationships, and life.
Our community is built around helping women unbind and unleash their unlimited potential using a proprietary methodology rooted in liberation, activation, and acceleration. Along with helping executives, teams, and those in the corporate space, I am deeply proud of creating opportunities where women can come into spaces as they are—not just as their résumés—and feel seen, heard, and equipped to create their ultimate, most meaningful chapter yet.
What sets me apart from others
What sets me apart is my ability to create an ecosystem for transformation – my combination of consistency, depth, and the ability to hold sacred space in very different arenas—from corporate boardrooms to TV production stages to intimate retreat circles for people to become their highest and best selves.
People know who they’re going to get when they work with me. Over the years, I’ve learned that this level of presence, integrity, and dependability—where I can be fully myself, they can be fully themselves, and we can both fully occupy the space—is rare. It’s a true commodity.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Let me start with I LOVE our city – I hate the traffic. Truly. I went to Spelman, graduated in the early 90s, and came to Atlanta in the late 80s. So my experience of traffic back then versus now, 30+ years later, is very different. The congestion is real.
But that very congestion is also tied to what I love most about our city. Atlanta is a magnet. It welcomes people from all over the world. It has heart, it has personality, and it has promise that it’s always striving to exceed.
As a base for my business and family, Atlanta gives us access to a vibrant, diverse community of leaders, dreamers, and doers. It’s a city that keeps trying to live up to its own promise—adapting to more people, more needs, more creativity, and more opportunity.
We don’t always get it perfect in Atlanta, but we don’t run from trying our best to get it right. That spirit—of resilience, reinvention, and determination—is part of why people want to move here and part of why people who live here stay. I am definitely one of those people.
Pricing:
- As the leader of a change management and executive coaching firm, I believe one of the most critical decisions any person can make is the decision to invest in themselves. We’re often taught to pour all our resources into everything outside of us—our businesses, careers, and responsibilities—when, in truth, we are our greatest asset and the guarantee we’ve been looking for. When it comes to pricing, we customize our investment levels to match the goals, scale, and realities of each client. We’re not the bargain option — we’re the partner you call when you want it done exceptionally well. With that in mind, here are a few helpful guideposts:
- Individual Executive & Professional Coaching (6-month engagements): Investment range depends on scope, level of leader, and organizational needs. Clients commonly experience a 4–5x return in terms of performance, retention, and impact—far exceeding many other investments they’re offered.
- Leadership, Team, and Organizational Development Programs: Customized engagements that may include assessment, strategy, leadership labs, team interventions, and ongoing advisory support. Pricing varies based on duration, number of leaders, and complexity of the change, and is designed in collaboration with the client to align with their priorities and budget.
- Transformative Women’s Retreats & Group Coaching Experiences www.crystalanddrnicole.com (Just Be in Aruba, Soft Power in Costa Rica, Inner Edge Group Coaching, etc.): We host intimate retreats and experiences—both corporate and women-centered—that focus on leadership, well-being, and relationship resets. Investments are variable based on location, accommodations, and actual transformational experience.
- Whether someone is a C-suite leader, an emerging executive, or a woman ready to shift into their next, our goal is the same: to design an investment that moves them meaningfully closer to their highest and best—for themselves, their relationships, their teams, and their organizations.
