Rising Stars: Meet Jasmyn Fritz of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmyn Fritz.

Hi Jasmyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As it relates to my new game, Let’s Rap Card Game – I started listening to more rap music and naturally consumed more and more content around it; reading books and articles, watching interviews and video analyses. I was inspired and challenged to get deeper into the music and to better understand so much of what I was glossing over. I had a new desire for in-person conversations that focused on the art, where you could also learn something. I started thinking of a game to make these conversations fun and made physical pieces to help with the concept. I printed my first game prototype in November 2024 and after showing the people closest to me, it was clear that I had something legitimate that could and should be mass produced. January 1, 2025 was the start of me seriously pursuing a business to develop and sell the game.

During the first half of 2025, I registered my business, joined a business mentorship program, hired a brand designer and music research consultant. In July 2025, I began play-testing Let’s Rap in Atlanta, then Charlotte and finally, Raleigh, NC. Once the game was in its most final form, I began working with a manufacturer to produce the game and started marketing. I launched a Kickstarter campaign that ran from mid-October to mid-November, offering the fully-designed game as a reward for backing the project. Once the Kickstarter campaign successfully ended, I launched www.letsrapcardgame.com to accept pre-orders while I waited for the inventory to arrive. Since then, I’ve officially opened for business and have been shipping my game to customers across the United States.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, things have felt pretty smooth. From the moment the concept clicked for me, my confidence in what I was working toward has been incredibly high so I don’t know if I’ve even recognized struggles as such. I’ve mostly self-funded this project so various checkpoints have taken longer than expected at times but I’ve never stopped moving forward. Whether bumpy or smooth, I’m grateful for every step of the journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’d describe myself as a creative person who does whatever, whenever. I don’t like to have guidelines, parameters or forced direction. I make what feels right – Though my primary creative expression is photographing college basketball right now, I’ve produced a range of work using various mediums. I’ve created mixed media blog-style pieces, video art, written text and audio projects. These projects are introspective and oriented around self-development and evolution. My art can be found at www.fritzbyhand.com.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for artists, creators and people wanting to express themselves is to try to do it without the conditions of society. I appreciate that my approach to art is simply doing what feels right to me. I encourage that and would dissuade the idea of creating work for the purpose of tying it to the business of art consumption. If you can make money from it after the fact, that’s great, but let it exist because you felt it was your purpose to create it.
