Today we’d like to introduce you to Schneise Green.
Hi Schneise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well , what started out as a solo business Diamond Kut Catering back in 2000 was the beginning of me (Schneise ) doing what I loved to do which is feed people and watching them enjoy it as well. In 2013 I met my now husband Damian Green and he has been there every step of the way. In 2019 we decided to change the name to Green’s Cuisine & Tropical Treats where we offer the best of both worlds. We offer a changeable menu to offer our guests/ clients a variety of options. Our biggest hit that we now offer are our candied fruits. One of my closet friends Sheteria Laye-Webb asked me to attempt to make some candied grapes and the rest has been history on that. Everyone fell in love with them. They are an amazing little sweet treat. We travel all over with our food trailer to events meeting great people and some now that we even consider family.. From big wheel racing, private parties, festivals and more, we attend them all. We love having the opportunity of watching the world try our products not only trying them but enjoying them and coming back for more! We also love to be at events and see our family and friends pop up. It brings us so my joy knowing they came out to support us.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In this business you never plan for the events that don’t turn out as expected. You spend more money to prepare for an event than you even make. Sometimes it’s bad promotion, bad weather so it’s always a chance you take when scheduling events. Blow outs on the road, equipment not working properly, generator going out amongst other obstacles that can occur. When owning a food truck there is preparation before you leave, when you arrive, when it’s time to go and then again when you have to clean up from that day that has already been long. Nobody ever gets to see the hard work put in behind the scenes. We are so thankful to have each other to lean on. Special thank you to my parents Edward & Diane Robinson who believed in my dreams and purchased our first food truck and we have been working and blessed ever since. Our family that has blessed us some with money and others that also showed up to events and helped us keep those lines under control.. Those that have given any helping hand when we needed it we are truly grateful.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Expect hard times. Being a business owner is not easy but you have to accept the good with the bad. It has been a blessing to have each other as husband and wife to lean on when things arise. Just don’t give up. That’s the easiest thing to do.
