Exploring Life & Business with Angelica Garcia of Body20 Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Garcia.

Hi Angelica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! My name is Angelica García. I’m 47 years old, originally from Mexico, and I’ve been living in the United States for eight years. Like everyone, my story has many chapters—but today I want to share the one that, without me realizing it, led me to make a dream come true: Body20 Roswell.

I’ve never been the super-athletic type, but I’ve always wanted to feel comfortable in my own body—even though I love food and I’m always craving something delicious. I started running when I was around 34. I remember perfectly: one of my best friends convinced me to run with her by promising an amazing breakfast full of pastries afterward. That’s really all it took!

So I started running every weekend, going longer and longer distances—all for that heavenly breakfast after training. Eventually I completed three half-marathons. But to be honest, that was my limit. It wasn’t a distance I enjoyed anymore, not even with the promise of great food afterward.

When I turned 36, I gifted myself a paragliding course, and I completely fell in love with it. Paragliding became my passion, which meant I no longer had time to train or run… but of course, I kept eating the same. Then a friend told me that another friend was opening a studio using a new technology—EMS training—where you only needed 20 minutes twice a week and that covered your whole week of exercise. Those words were music to my ears, and I went to try it immediately.

I loved the workout, I loved the technology, but most of all, I fell in love with the results. I had never felt so strong or so toned in my life. I recommended it to everyone. Even my runner friend—who by then was training for her first marathon—got injured and was devastated. I suggested she train with me using EMS so she wouldn’t lose her strength and conditioning, and maybe still have a chance to run her marathon. She did… and she completed her marathon exactly as planned.

In 2016, I started dating the man who would become my husband in 2017—and the reason I left my country, my family, my friends, and my job to move to Seattle with him. And of course, the moment I arrived in Seattle, I started searching for an EMS training studio. I didn’t want to lose everything I had gained. But there weren’t any. My husband and I thought it was strange that something so incredible didn’t exist in the U.S., and we talked about how it would be a great business idea. But we discovered that at that time, EMS training wasn’t FDA-approved for fitness—only for therapeutic purposes.

In 2019, we moved from Seattle to Atlanta for his job. We found an incredibly warm community in Roswell and have been very happy here. We made friends who now feel like family. And in one of those gatherings, someone casually asked me: “What do you do to keep your arms toned? They’re not saggy at all.” And I said, “Well… I bought some EMS bands on Amazon and they’ve helped.” Then someone mentioned that his sister was doing something similar at a new studio. “Really? What studio?” “It’s called Body20, in Buckhead.” I said, “I have to try it—it sounds just like what I used to do in Mexico!”

I went… and I was happy again! I reconnected with the technology and training I had loved so much and that had worked wonders for me. I signed up immediately. And after talking with my husband, we realized we wanted to be part of this story and open our own Body20 in Roswell.

And here we are—turning a dream into reality and sharing something I truly love, something I know can help so many people reach their health and fitness goals more easily, effectively, and joyfully.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m incredibly lucky to have a husband who supports me in all my crazy ideas — he’s my partner in every adventure. But I have to admit, this particular adventure has pushed me in more ways than I ever expected. The biggest challenge has been pushing myself beyond… well, myself. I’ve had to face fears, step way outside my comfort zone, and do things I never imagined I’d be capable of — or would ever need to do!

I’m an economist, born and educated in Mexico. Back home, throughout my professional life, I was always an employee. I started out at HSBC bank, and right before getting married I had a great position in the sales department of a French company. I felt confident working with clients and senior executives — but of course, all in Spanish, in the culture I grew up in.

The truth is, I’ve never felt completely comfortable speaking English. I don’t have all the vocabulary I’d like to express everything in my head, and my grammar… well, let’s just say it’s still a work in progress. For many years that held me back. And now, facing it head-on has been one of my biggest challenges: letting go, speaking up, saying what I want to say, and trusting that people will understand me.

It’s also been a huge challenge to return to the working world after eight years away from it. Coming back as a business owner — in a new country and a new culture — has been a massive transition. Reorganizing my life and schedule so that my business is the priority has definitely pushed me.

Honestly, I’m scared every single day. There have been days when I’ve thought, “Maybe I can’t do this.” But looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’m happy I’ve kept moving forward, faced my fears, and continued growing as a person and as an entrepreneur.

As you know, we’re big fans of Body20 Roswell. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Body20 is a fitness studio that combines personalized training with EMS technology — which stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation.

In simple terms, it’s a workout where you wear a special suit connected to small electrodes that activate your muscles while you exercise. The stimulation makes your muscles work harder and more efficiently, so a 20-minute session can feel like hours of traditional training.

What do we do at Body20?
• We offer one-on-one, customized workouts guided by a certified coach.
• Each session is tailored to your goals — whether you want to tone, build strength, improve your posture, reduce back pain, or simply get in shape in less time.
• Because EMS activates more than 90% of your muscle fibers at the same time, the workout is high-impact but low-stress, meaning it’s gentle on your joints.
• It’s perfect for busy people, beginners, athletes, people coming back from injury, or anyone who wants fast, effective results without spending hours at the gym.

You come in, suit up, train for 20 minutes… and you’re done.
It’s efficient, it’s fun, and it really works.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Actually, we’re hiring!
I’m looking for an Assistant Manager who loves the product as much as I do, and fitness coaches who are excited to learn this innovative way of working out. We want passionate, energetic people who believe in helping others feel strong, confident, and empowered through EMS training.
