Today we’d like to introduce you to Shine.
Hi Shine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a creative started long before I ever had a camera or a company. Even as a kid, I had a strong sense that I was called to create—whether it was imagining music videos, writing concepts, or visualizing stories. I didn’t always have access to equipment or formal training, so I became self-taught, learning by doing, experimenting, and serving wherever I could, mainly at my church.
Over the years I worked in media production, including several years in news, and eventually stepped into leading media for my church. During the pandemic, when everything went digital, doors opened for me to create campaigns and content for nonprofits and community organizations. That season pushed me to launch Bruised Heel Media—a company built from faith, grit, and the desire to help others communicate with excellence.
Alongside my business, I now serve as Media Director at my church, EFVM (Evangelical Faith Vision Ministries), and lead The Set, our young-adult discipleship community. Through both, I get to combine creativity, ministry, storytelling, and strategy in one purpose-driven lane.
Looking back, I can clearly see God’s hand guiding every step—from giving me the vision early on, to providing opportunities, resources, and even blessings I couldn’t afford on my own. Today, I’m walking in everything I once imagined as a kid: creating, leading, mentoring, and building something bigger than me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I started with limited resources, no formal training, and had to teach myself almost everything. There were financial challenges, missed opportunities, and seasons where I felt overlooked or stretched thin.
But every struggle built resilience and sharpened my purpose. My faith and family carried me through, and God consistently opened the right doors at the right time. The challenges didn’t stop me—they shaped me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multimedia creative and strategist who specializes in storytelling, digital production, and brand development for churches, nonprofits, and small businesses. Through Bruised Heel Media and my role as Media Director at EFVM, I produce videos, podcasts, social content, and campaigns that help people communicate with clarity and purpose. I also lead The Set, a young-adult community focused on faith, culture, and overall growth.
I’m most proud of the impact my work has on people—mentoring young creatives, strengthening faith, and helping organizations better serve their communities. My work is known for being high-quality, purpose-driven, and culturally relevant.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge creativity with strategy and ministry. I don’t just create content—I build experiences and spaces that uplift, equip, and inspire. At the core, everything I do reflects my personal mission: Love God. Love People. Make Disciples. Spread the Gospel.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to trust God. Start with what you have, stay faithful to the vision He gave you, and don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you begin. God honors movement, obedience, and consistency.
Learn as you go, stay humble, and don’t be discouraged if others don’t immediately see what God showed you. Protect your vision, keep improving, and stay grounded in your “why.”
What I wish I knew starting out is that when you trust God with the process and remain excellent in the small things, He will open doors you could never force open on your own.
