Check Out Austin Usher’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Usher.

Hi Austin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Woodstock most of my life. When my mom remarried into a military family, I moved around a bit. I moved to Marietta, Acworth, Colorado Springs, and then finally back to Canton. I made some incredible connections everywhere I went that I keep very close to me. I have had pretty much every job under the sun. Food service, retail, granite work, steel work, car sales, EPA testing, comic book store, grocery, and now Marketing/Content creator. I was never any good at school. I barely made it out of high school and couldn’t even get through community college. I don’t know why I tried to get a business major. Using my work history and connections has gotten me farther than I ever expected. I started making videos in high school for my video broadcasting class. I was my teacher’s favorite student because I had a creative eye he said was “great at bringing their ideas to life from the paper”. I won an award my senior year for “Most Entertaining Feature” for a movie trailer I made and I knew I had found a talent in me for fun short videos. I did not really jump on the social media wave until I moved back to Georgia. I decided to make a few videos for YouTube and Facebook. they never really took off but I found a passion for it again. In 2018, my friend Jake and I downloaded TikTok as a joke, but it immediately became an outlet for creative video creation. I started posting for fun and had a few things really go viral. I wish I had understood using post momentum at the time, but I always just made sure I posted for fun and not for views. I became an influencer for Natural Light in 2020 and posted fun and interesting content for their social channels until they dissolved the influencer program in 2021. I have had a few different avenues for content and but I always try to be unique and bring my own views and silliness to everything I do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel like the biggest challenge for me is to always make sure I am being genuine and true to myself. I have always tried to stay positive and focus on good things that happen no mater what. When life has thrown hurdles my way I do what I can to rely on those around me and to push through anything dragging me down. Nothing good in life comes without struggle, but I have also learned that sometimes good things happen and you shouldn’t expect a struggle to come with it just because it is good.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a big fan of pop culture, theme parks, and comedy. I also am a big foodie, musician, and sports fan too. I go to Universal Studios Orlando 4 times a year with my sister and brother in law and recently started blogging it and posting food reviews of what is in the parks. I go to the movies a lot (AMC A-Lister) and post movie reviews as well. I have been a Braves A-Lister since the 2021 season (some may say I was a big reason they won the World Series that year) and am a big supporter of the Atlanta Braves. I post stadium food reviews and talk about what is new at trust Park during the season. I collect LEGOs and play guitar also, so I truly do a little bit of everything. I am a man of a thousand hobbies.
I have been a content creator for about ten years now. Comedic content I feel is my strongest avenue. I have always been very interested in making people laugh whether it be on stage or on camera. I have done improv and stand up in the past, however I feel more confident in video content.
I am probably most proud of myself for my successful videos and building my channels to what they are. I have had a few videos surpass a million views and I feel like whenever you have that happen it is like striking oil. You think “Oh wow I have really done something with this one”. I think I am just proud that I have made some videos that people truly enjoy watching and can come back to and laugh.
I feel like I am able to bring original ideas to my videos. If you are watching my content, you are not going to see something you have seen a thousand times before. even with trends, I try to bring a unique angle to everything I make to make it funny and interesting. My audience knows me for my originality.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The thing I love and hate most about the Metro-Atlanta area is that you are 30 minutes from just about anything. Want to see a movie in 4DX? How about mini-golf? Do you want to go try this hole in the wall hot dog spot I found by talking to someone at the gas station? What about somewhere like Downtown Woodstock where you can try local food and shop at local boutique shops. Want to go for a hike? What about the lake? There are tons of trails all around. There is plenty to do for those that see it. Woodstock, Canton, Marietta, Cartersville, Roswell, they are all unique in their own way, yet still very similar and that is the charm of this area.

Of course, I have the same complaint everyone here has. Traffic.I see “we full” a lot and they are right, we are. My family just keeps moving farther and farther north at this point to get away but I feel everyone is. In other words, I will see yall at the Calhoun Buc-ee’s.
