Conversations with Amanda Carroll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Carroll.

Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
While in college I took the NASAM CPT course and began personal training at the Georgia Southern campus gym. As well as teaching crossfit classes at Fit Statesboro The Garage. After graduating I came back home and worked for some commercial gyms in the area and was a Technician at Benchmark Physical therapy. During that my mom who had started her photography business back in 2016 brought the idea to me to start my own business. So in the fall of 2023 I started ARCPower Fitness. I rented from two gyms before opening my own studio space December 1st with my business partner.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been a bumpy journey. Switching gyms three times, finding clients, and learning how to be a buisness owner. There was a period in gym changes that I drove to clients and used what I could take in my car and what clients had.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a personal trainer. I specialize in injury prevention and post-rehabilitation, through exercise and education. Modifying and tailored training programs to teach proper lifitng mechanics for a long-term solution. I’m most proud of my clients little goals/ non scale goals. Like being able to run up stairs, move large plotted plants, and fit into jeans they haven’t been able to for years. I focus on lifestyle changes and habits. Hard conservations about how the fad diet isnt the solution and realistic timelines for goals help clients truly know and understand what they are in for.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I got the start towards this career from being injured myself as a young athlete and having to go to physical therapy. As well as during my job in high-school there were athletes younger than I was having the same injury, it drove me to want to learn prevention methods.
