Exploring Life & Business with Kieara Dawson of Wholelistic Yoga and Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kieara Dawson.

Hi Kieara , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am from LaPlace, Louisiana, and like many college students I had no idea what I wanted to major in at first. I only knew that I wanted to help people and that I had a heart for making others see the best in themselves. I tried out several majors before I found my way into Kinesiology. That was the first time I felt a real connection. I loved learning about the body, how it functions, and how it communicates what it needs.

At that point I thought physical therapy would be my path, but during my senior year I interned at a chiropractic clinic that also offered physical therapy. I noticed myself gravitating toward chiropractic. There was something special about the philosophy, the why behind it, and the way the doctor and the patients lit up after an adjustment. It felt like an avenue of hope. Chiropractic reminded people that their bodies are designed to heal and that they have the ability to reconnect with their highest potential. I knew that was the kind of work I wanted to be part of.

As I continued my education and went through my own healing journey with chiropractic and yoga, everything became even clearer. Those practices helped me tap into alignment on every level. That is when I knew this was not just a career choice. This was my calling.

Today, I help people do more than align their spines. I help them align with their greatest chance at healing themselves. My work through Wholelistic Yoga and Chiropractic blends movement, mindfulness, and nervous system care so people can experience true mind body harmony. This is how I arrived at the work I do today and why I am passionate about creating a space where healing feels accessible, grounded, and whole.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth, and I am grateful for that because it shaped the healer I am today. Chiropractic school challenged me mentally, emotionally, and financially. Moving to a new city while juggling a doctoral program brought moments of anxiety, self doubt, and negative self talk. I had to learn how to manage the pressure, stay grounded, and trust my purpose even when things felt overwhelming.

The decision to become a chiropractor challenged everything I grew up around and everything I had seen in my community. Choosing this path meant stepping into a world that felt unfamiliar and sometimes intimidating. I also navigated the experience of being a Black woman in a field that is mostly men and mostly white. Even through that, I found strength in the sisterhood I built with other powerful Black women in the program. We supported each other, encouraged each other, and that bond carried me through the hardest seasons.

At the same time, I battled imposter syndrome while growing into the doctor I knew I wanted to become. These experiences pushed me into a deeper relationship with my wellness practices. Yoga, chiropractic care, meditation, affirmations, and intentional self awareness became my way of coming back home to myself and staying aligned with my purpose.

All of these challenges helped me understand what real healing feels like, not just academically but personally. They expanded my ability to hold space for others and prepared me to build Wholelistic Yoga and Chiropractic with compassion and clarity. The journey was not easy, but it strengthened my voice, my confidence, and my commitment to creating a space where people feel supported and empowered in their own healing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wholelistic Yoga and Chiropractic?
Wholelistic Yoga and Chiropractic is built on the belief that healing is a mind, body, and spirit experience. Chiropractic helps restore balance in the nervous system, and yoga brings people back into their breath, their awareness, and their inner grounding. Together, they support the body’s ability to heal in a way that feels whole.

What matters most to me is the space I create. I take care of the person in front of me. My care is gentle, specific, and personal. I listen to what your body is telling us, and I meet you exactly where you are. Whether someone comes in through yoga or chiropractic, they leave with a better understanding of themselves and tools they can use in their daily life.

Wholelistic is different because it is not just about the physical body. I teach people how their stress, thoughts, and daily habits influence how they feel. My yoga classes are accessible and grounding. My adjustments are intentional and focused. Every part of the experience is meant to help people feel safe, supported, and connected to themselves.

I am proud of bringing chiropractic and mindful movement into communities that may not have grown up with it. I love watching people discover new ways to heal, adapt, and take ownership of their well being. Wholelistic is more than a practice to me. It is a space where people can step into alignment with who they truly are.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice comes down to three things. First, do it scared. You are not always going to feel ready, but you will grow into what you are called to do. Take the step anyway.

Second, done is better than perfect. Perfection will keep you stuck. Progress comes from showing up, learning as you go, and trusting that each step is preparing you for the next one.

Third, surround yourself with people who lift you higher. Align yourself with people you can grow with, grow from, and be inspired by. Community makes the journey lighter and reminds you that you are not doing this alone.

And through all of it, follow God. Trust the vision He placed on your heart. When you stay aligned with your why and stay rooted in faith, everything else falls into place in its own time.
