Today we’d like to introduce you to Elodie Romulus.
Elodie , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kiddie Canvas by KC began as a simple, meaningful bonding moment between me and my son, Koraun—better known as KC. As a psychology graduate, I’ve always been intentional about pouring positive words into him, and our nightly routine of affirmations became something really special. At the same time, KC has always had a huge love for animals, so I went looking for a coloring book that blended both—fun animal characters and confidence-building affirmations.
When I couldn’t find anything that truly matched what I wanted for him, the idea for Kiddie Canvas was born. KC helped choose the animals and many of the affirmations, and I used my background in psychology to craft messages that support healthy self-esteem and emotional development. What started as a small mom-and-son project quickly grew into a full creative brand built on love, joy, and representation.
Today, our book is available across major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Books A Million, and Barnes & Noble. Seeing families connect with something that started at home with me and KC has been incredibly rewarding. At its core, Kiddie Canvas is still exactly what it started as: a space where kids can color, learn, and build confidence—one positive message at a time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all, and I think that’s the beauty of it. Kiddie Canvas grew out of love and creativity, but the actual process came with its own learning curve. I had to teach myself everything from book formatting and illustration direction to publishing, distribution, and marketing. Navigating platforms like Amazon, Walmart, Books A Million, and Barnes & Noble wasn’t easy at first, especially as a first-time children’s book creator.
Another challenge was balancing being a mom, an entrepreneur, and the entire creative team behind the book. Since it’s just me handling the design decisions, outreach, and production, there were moments where it felt overwhelming. But every challenge pushed me to learn more and stay persistent.
What kept me going was KC. Knowing he was part of the process, choosing the animals and affirmations with me, made every obstacle feel worth it. The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been meaningful, and each struggle helped shape Kiddie Canvas into what it is today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the creator behind Kiddie Canvas by KC, a children’s brand that blends creativity, emotional development, and representation. I specialize in creating affirmation-based coloring books designed to build confidence, self-esteem, and positive thinking in young children. With my background in psychology, I’m very intentional about every affirmation, making sure each one supports a child’s emotional well-being — not just their creativity.
What I’m most known for is creating a book with my son, KC. He helped pick the animals, the themes, and many of the affirmations, which makes Kiddie Canvas feel personal, authentic, and genuinely kid-driven. His love for animals and my passion for child development came together perfectly.
What sets Kiddie Canvas apart is that it’s not just a coloring book — it’s an experience rooted in love, positive identity building, and representation. Every page encourages children to see themselves as capable, kind, smart, and unique. Seeing our book available across major retailers is something I’m incredibly proud of.
And now, we’re expanding that experience even more with Kiddie Canvas Club: Sing & Shine with KC, a kid-friendly YouTube series where KC brings our affirmations to life through fun, uplifting sing-along moments. It’s a joyful extension of the message behind the book.
At the end of the day, Kiddie Canvas stands out because it was created from the perspective of a mom and a child working together to spread positivity — one affirmation at a time.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m always looking for resources that help me stay inspired, organized, and intentional — both as a mom and as a creator. One of my go-to apps is Pinterest. It’s simple, but it’s a huge source of creative inspiration for me. I use it to explore colors, themes, layouts, and kid-friendly concepts that help shape the visual style behind Kiddie Canvas by KC.
I also enjoy podcasts that focus on mindset, parenting, and daily affirmations. They help me stay centered and remind me of the power of positive routines — something that plays a big role in my work and in my home.
Outside of that, I love reading books about emotional intelligence and child development, as they often spark ideas for how to encourage confidence and self-esteem in kids.
Overall, I try to surround myself with content that keeps me learning, growing, and creating with purpose. It helps me do my best in life — both at work and in motherhood.
