Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Long.
Hi Robert , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It was 2005, when I was adopted in Gary Indiana by an Angel named Yvonne Tate Long, where I first was taught and shown Motherly Love and the Love of GOD. From then on my Spiritual and Educational journey began. From Elementary through 9th grade I Lived in Gary. Then I moved to Junction City Kansas to obtain a better education. Where I attended and graduated from Junction City High School, with Varsity letters in Cross Country and Swimming. Obtaining a GPA of 3.8 That led me to Berea Kentucky where I Attended and Graduated with A Bachelors of Arts In African and African American Studies from a Christian College named Berea College in 2021.
My Life Goal has always been to become an inspirational leader and World Historian. From the time I could read and write I immersed myself in World History. Along with loving and drinking in Music, Fashion, and Entertainment. I was constantly reading and studying other cultures to enhance my knowledge on all things History.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles I faced along the way are typical of learning how to grieve loss and change. I Met my Birth Mom in 2018 and Lost my Adopted mom from Cancer a few months later. I had to take a year leave of absence from College in order to grieve and mentally heal. On my way returning to college I was in a bus accident, I walked away alive and returned to school to graduate. Learning how precious and valuable life is was a big and lasting lesson.
The loss and found part of my life also taught me to respect moments with others. I also discovered I was 7 of 8 siblings that were all fostered by other families. I still keep in touch with my siblings. Financing my business and furthering my education has had it’s challenges especially when you are doing it alone. until now I have the help that I’ve longed for by understanding that God is my Source and will provide the right people and resources to aid me on my journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My Aim as a Historian,Creative Artist, and story teller. Is to tell stories of World History and all Cultural Impact. I strive to bridge that gaps and fill the holes of the untold stories of our ancestors and other cultural aspects, and how we can all come together to help one another. My Story and His-Story (History) can be impactful when it becomes HISSTORY a combination of testimonies, struggles, triumphs, and adversities. We are Overcomer’s more that Conquerors.
I will Write, Books. Produce TV and Movies. That will share OUR Stories. I hope to impact generations to come.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a shy kid, yet funny and out going a bit nerdy but still popular, suffered from some bullying. Tall skinny sometimes chatty and sometimes quiet and introverted. to my surprise, I was Winter Homecoming King my SR year in High School. My Interests were in Books, Movies, TV, Video Games, Music, Sports and of Course Church (Momma Yvonne made sure of that) lol.
