Rising Stars: Meet Khadija Munye of Stone Mountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khadija Munye.

Hi Khadija, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story starts with soccer. I grew up playing the game when I was young, and even though I eventually stopped playing competitively, my love for the sport never went away. That connection to the game is what naturally led me into storytelling and content creation. I started filming small clips, covering local tournaments, and showing the culture and energy that makes soccer so special. Those small moments eventually led to bigger opportunities, including volunteering for major events like the FIFA Club World Cup.

Along the way, I realized how rare it is to see a Muslim hijabi woman in the soccer content space here in America. That pushed me even more, to show up, be visible, and carve out a space that people don’t always expect to see us in.

Today, I’m merging community, culture, and soccer through my content. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for the direction it’s taking me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being a content creator in general comes with its own challenges, but stepping into the soccer space as a Black Muslim hijabi woman adds another layer. There aren’t many people who look like me in this field, so there were moments where I questioned whether I even belonged or if people would take me seriously. A lot of the time I had to create my own opportunities instead of waiting for someone to offer them.

Another struggle was simply starting from scratch, teaching myself how to film, edit, network, and put myself out there without overthinking it. It took a lot of trial and error, and there were plenty of times where I felt overlooked or underestimated.

But through all of it, I held onto a phrase from the Quran that states “So surely, with hardship comes ease.” Every challenge pushed me instead of discouraging me. It gave me resilience, confidence, and a stronger sense of purpose in what I’m building. Looking back, each obstacle shaped me into the creator I’m becoming.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create soccer-focused content that highlights the culture, the people, and the community behind the sport. I’m not trying to be the biggest or flashiest creator, I just genuinely love capturing the moments and stories that make soccer special. Whether it’s local tournaments or major events, I try to bring a warm, relatable perspective to the game. I think what sets me apart is simply showing up as myself. Being a Black Muslim hijabi woman in this space is rare, and I’m grateful to be able to represent in a way that feels true to who I am. I’m most proud of the connections I’ve made along the way and the people who tell me they feel seen or inspired by my content. That’s what keeps me going. At the end of the day, I just want to keep learning, keep growing, and keep creating work that brings people together through the sport we all love.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is staying true to who I am. In a space where it’s easy to get caught up in numbers or trends, I try to focus on creating from a place of sincerity. I want my work to reflect my values; my faith, my culture, and the way I was raised. As long as I’m creating content that feels honest, respectful, and rooted in purpose, I feel grounded. That sense of authenticity is what keeps me going.
