Meet Dexter Tolson of Hampton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dexter Tolson.

Dexter, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a self taught saxophonist. I started playing at the age of 29 while stationed in Germany in 1989. I was influenced by Grover Washington Jr and David Sanborn. I moved to the Atlanta area in 2001 and in 2004 I formed the band Goodfellas Jazz band which later became Dexter Tolson and Friends.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a road like many others. It’s had its ups and downs.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself to be a creative artist. I write, produce, record and perform music. I spend most of my time writing and recording these days.
