Rising Stars: Meet Bindi Mehta of Lawrenceville, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bindi Mehta.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Bindi Mehta, and I’ve been living in Atlanta for more than 25 years. I’m a content creator, and I make funny videos for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. I come up with my own ideas, write the stories and scripts, and handle all the editing myself.
I was born and raised in India. During my college years, I worked at a radio station and a local TV channel. After moving to the U.S., I worked in various office roles—starting as a cashier and eventually becoming a Database Administrator. I’ve spent many years in the corporate world, but I’ve always had a strong passion for filmmaking and storytelling. Reading positive comments on my videos truly motivates and excites me.
So I started making funny videos—with my husband’s constant support, my parents’ blessings from heaven, my sister’s love, my friends’ positive encouragement, and my wonderful followers. Here I am today: still working hard, still facing challenges, but incredibly optimistic about my future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I had to go through a big learning process, especially with time management. Creating funny videos is much more challenging than it looks—behind every short clip, there is so much work involved. When I first started, I had no idea how long it takes to write, shoot, edit, and post consistently. I do everything by myself, so it can get overwhelming.

One of my biggest struggles was balancing creativity with the pressure of social media. Sometimes a video gets amazing views, and sometimes it doesn’t—even when you put in double the effort. Learning not to take that personally was a huge lesson. Another challenge was building an audience from scratch. I often wondered if people would even understand my humor, especially since I mix Indian culture with everyday American life.

It took me more than 30 years to even start thinking about pursuing my hobby. Life gets busy—full-time job, home responsibilities, social commitments, and even my demanding dogs. Making videos feels like having a second full-time job, except without the pay. It takes so much time to come up with original ideas, shoot them, edit them, and then post them. Even posting takes a couple of hours because you’re sharing across different groups, platforms, and tags.

My family and friends sometimes think I don’t have time for them, but the truth is I barely have time for myself. Still, I make it work by managing my time the best I can. When you truly love something, you’re willing to deal with any struggle. You’re ready to fight any battle.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I portray a wide range of characters in my work. Over time, I have taken on roles such as a wife, a husband using a mustache and wig, Death, a young girl, a young boy, Robin Hood, a mouse, a rabbit, a dog, God, Cinderella, a princess, a judge, a grandmother, a police officer, Cleopatra, and many more. With every character I portray, I fully immerse myself in the role and embrace the opportunity to explore different identities and perspectives. I genuinely enjoy playing diverse roles and draw significant inspiration from Saturday Night Live, which has greatly influenced my creative approach.

My work frequently involves physical comedy, whether it is dancing like a monkey or walking like a small child. I find this aspect of performance especially rewarding, as it allows me to express humor through movement and expression. More than anything, I find my work both fulfilling and enjoyable.

Engaging with my fans and viewers is another highlight of what I do. I receive thoughtful and encouraging feedback, including inspiring messages and generous compliments that continually motivate me. One particularly memorable experience was connecting with a follower from Italy who regularly watches my reels. Discovering that my work resonates with audiences across the world was an incredibly joyful and meaningful moment.

Playing diverse roles is something I truly enjoy, and I take pride in the creativity and versatility that each character brings to life in my reels.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I approach my work with the goal of having fun and staying true to my creativity. I enjoy developing my own ideas, stories, and scripts, and I am committed to working hard while learning from my mistakes. Improvisation plays an important role in my creative process, and I allow myself the time and space needed to develop ideas until a genuinely funny and engaging concept emerges.

I once heard a valuable piece of advice: I should enjoy what I create before sharing it with others. That mindset has stayed with me and continues to guide my work.

While I occasionally encounter hurtful comments, I have developed the resilience and discernment to not dwell on them. Instead, I choose to learn from constructive criticism and remain focused on growth.

Above all, I am deeply focused on my work and genuinely enjoy the creative process. I cherish the encouragement and inspiration I receive from supportive viewers, and there is nothing more rewarding than knowing people laugh, connect with, and enjoy my work.
