Daily Inspiration: Meet Pallavi Gudka

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pallavi Gudka.

Hi Pallavi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! I’m Pallavi, the heart and soul behind PenAPoem. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Mumbai, my journey has taken me to a few places across the globe – from Singapore to the bustling streets of Hong Kong. Throughout these adventures, one constant has remained – my deep-rooted love for the written word.

While I have been content in my career as a Chartered Accountant and Tax Professional for many years, I’ve always found solace in the art of poetry and songwriting – crafting verses that capture the essence of life’s moments. It was when I embraced the joy of motherhood in 2023 that I felt a renewed call to truly pursue my creative passions.

Inspired by my little one, Viaan, I quit my full-time job as a Tax professional and embarked on a new chapter – launching PenAPoem in October 2023. Through this platform, I now have the privilege of weaving words into bespoke poems for special occasions – from cherished birthdays to momentous milestones. It brings me immense joy to collaborate with clients, understanding their unique stories and translating them into captivating verses that leave a lasting impression.

But my journey didn’t stop there. Fuelled by the magic of childhood, I’ve also delved into the world of storybook writing, bringing to life the “Little Viaan” series in 2024. These charming rhyming tales are a testament to the power of imagination and the pure delight that can be found in books.

As I continue to expand my creative horizons, my aim is to inspire others with the transformative potential of poetry and prose. Whether you’re seeking a bespoke poem to elevate a special occasion or a captivating storybook to share with the young ones in your life, I’m here to help you bring your vision to life, one word at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No journey is ever completely smooth, and quite frankly, it wouldn’t be as enjoyable if it were. The highs and lows are what make any experience truly special. My biggest hurdle was making the decision to embark on this new path. After returning to a comfortable, well-paying job post-maternity leave, I felt a shift within myself.

My little son and the journey of pregnancy awakened a creative side that had been dormant for years while I focused on my career. I realized that life is too short to not pursue what I love, and I didn’t want to look back with regrets. The timing felt serendipitous; as a new mother, I was enveloped in a whirlwind of emotions—and that’s where PenAPoem was born. This venture allows me to articulate those feelings, celebrating life’s moments and creating lasting memories.

It’s been two years now, and the journey has undeniably been a roller coaster. I’ve faced challenges from learning how to market my business to exploring social media and navigating the world of self-publishing. Each twist and turn has made this experience incredibly rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At PenAPoem, I specialize in transforming emotions and experiences into heartfelt poetry and personalized writings. My focus is on capturing the essence of life’s special moments—celebrations, milestones, and the everyday joys that often go unnoticed. I’m known for my ability to weave personal stories into verses that resonate deeply with my clients, turning their feelings into beautiful, meaningful keepsakes.

In addition to poetry, I create personalized storybooks. Whether it’s a bedtime tale for your little one, a family history to pass down through generations, or a momentous occasion you wish to commemorate, I work closely with clients to bring their vision to life. You can share your story, characters, and plot details that make it special, and I will craft a beautifully designed storybook tailored to your exact specifications. Choose from hardcover or softcover options, select font styles and colors that best suit the tone, and incorporate photos or drawings to truly reflect your narrative.

I’m also proud to have started the Little Viaan storybook series, which features titles like Little Viaan Goes to Park and Little Viaan Says NO to Sleep. I have more books in the pipeline, expanding this delightful series aimed at young readers.

What sets me apart is my unique approach of blending creativity with emotional authenticity. As a new mother, I draw from my experiences to connect with others on a personal level. This intimate understanding allows me to craft pieces—both poetry and storybooks—that are not only relatable but also deeply touching.

I’m most proud of how PenAPoem has evolved into a platform that encourages self-expression and celebrates individuality. The feedback I receive from my clients, who cherish the personalized poems and storybooks, fuels my passion. Knowing that my work has helped people preserve their emotions and memories in such a meaningful way is incredibly fulfilling.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, as a full-time mom to two little ones—my son and PenAPoem—my schedule leaves little time to explore additional resources. However, I do spend a lot of time reading to my son. We have a diverse collection of books at home and frequently borrow new ones from the library.

These amazing stories not only enrich our time together but also serve as a profound inspiration for my work. The creativity, themes, and emotions found in children’s literature often influence my writing and remind me of the beauty of storytelling.

While I may not have the time to delve into various apps, podcasts, or blogs, these shared reading experiences are invaluable in fueling my passion and creativity.
