Today we’d like to introduce you to Reco Devonn.
Hi Reco, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At 23 years old, I started my personal training career in 2013, out of a small family oriented martial arts gym called Total Boxing. Total blowing was located in Roswell Ga, Holcomb bridge rd (Not there anymore) a kickboxing gym that was home to many fighters and clients that took bootcamp or self defense classes. I however wasn’t a fighter but was trained to fight by my friends that were pro fighters. Pat Webb, Stevie, Jodie, Bill, Q, Roy, just to name a few. But I was taking the bodybuilding route. That what drove me the most. building quality muscle burning fat and shaping my physique in the process. Gym owners Joe Powers and pat Webb gave me my very first stage of creating my own personal training business. Pat Webb showed me how to trained clients , how to listen and respond to clients. how to cater to the clients weaknesses in their bodies first then work with the strengths after. He gave me my very first client that was one of his top clients and he trusted in me to work with her. I was NERVOUS but I knew I was going to do just fine if I just remembered the steps he taught me and took my time. She was so pleased with my training that she signed up with me and she became my very first client. In 2015 Pat also gave me my very first opportunity to work with him on set of a reality tv show called “REAL HOUSE WIVES OF ATLANTA” as the cast of that show came to the gym and took self defense session in that episode. It was a great experience. In 2017 I switched my business module to being an IN HOME PERSONAL TRAINER. I wanted to bring my skills to a market where individuals who had very little time in their schedule to go to a gym and needed something convenient for them to exercise, run their companies and be with their family all in one. I am still currently successfully running my business in sandy springs , buckhead, Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Roswell and Milton Ga.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No , It hasn’t been a smooth road at all! When I very first started my business I had no phone, no car, and no place to live. I slept in a gym (total boxing) from 2013 – 2017. I didn’t start making very sustainable income until 2020. Now in 2025 it’s 6 figures with intentions to exceed that in 2026.
Running your own business will always be hard even when you are doing great numbers. When all clients are happy and reaching goals and beating certain chronic illnesses. But then at the end of the day you have to take care of you! Making sure you health is on point and training is on schedule and taking care of home.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is named “GRW INTO”. inspired by my grandma and the insecurities of me wearing my glasses as a kid due to getting picked on. I specialize in a Basic strength and condition, senior Chair Aerobics (silver sneakers) , bodybuilding prep, and outdoor bootcamps.
I just started my YouTube channel “BoywiththeGlasses1” im creating new content as we speak , soon to drop by Christmas 2025. Im also working on clothing line apparel for my brand “Grow Into” and looking to drop some fabric in summer 2026.
