Conversations with MajorLeagueJay

Today we’d like to introduce you to MajorLeagueJay.

Hi MajorLeagueJay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
MajorLeagueJay – Artist Story

Born in Greenville, South Carolina and moving to Atlanta at just eight years old, MajorLeagueJay grew up between two worlds—but it was the southside of Atlanta that shaped his style, his lingo, and his motivation. The city’s energy, culture, and pace became the backbone of the artist he’d grow into.

Jay’s connection to music started early. His dad wrote his first rap for him when he was eight, and his uncle and older brother—who had their own rap group—showed him firsthand what it meant to hustle, promote music, and lock in at the studio. Being around that creative environment lit a fire in him that never stopped burning.

His sound mixes vibe-heavy melodies, party records, and what he calls “pop shit”—a style rooted in Atlanta’s influence but refined through his own experiences and personality. Inspired by artists like T.I., Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and especially his uncle, Jay built a lane that balances confidence, authenticity, and flavor.

By 15, he was producing his own beats. By 18, he was recording and engineering himself, developing a self-made skillset that continues to elevate his music. That independence—and Atlanta’s culture—helped shape the artist he is today.

Behind the scenes, Jay has powered through challenges, including being born with sickle cell. Instead of slowing him down, it became part of his purpose. He wants his journey to inspire every kid living with the condition to stay strong, keep fighting, and chase their dreams without hesitation.

MajorLeagueJay is already making noise, including a feature on iHeartRadio, helping expand his audience beyond the city that raised him. Now he’s gearing up for another big step with new music videos and his upcoming project, “1st Inning,” a title symbolizing the start of something major.

From Greenville to the southside of Atlanta, MajorLeagueJay carries the grit of his past and the spirit of his city—stepping confidently into the era he’s been building toward since childhood.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Dealing with sickle cell going through physical and mental pain and having all the resources to break down the door of the industry

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Q: We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do as an artist, and what do you specialize in?
A: I’m an artist, producer, and engineer—so I’m heavily involved in every part of the music I put out. My sound is a mix of vibe music, party records, and what I call “pop shit.” It’s energetic, confident, and influenced by Atlanta culture. I like to make music that people can feel, turn up to, and connect with. Since I started producing at 15 and engineering my own music at 18, I’ve developed a sound that’s completely my own from top to bottom.

Q: What are you known for as an artist?
A: I’m known for my versatility and the way I blend vibe-heavy melodies with that Atlanta flavor. People connect with the personality in my music—my style, my lingo, my delivery—it all comes from being raised on the southside of Atlanta. I’m also known for being hands-on with my sound. I’m not just rapping on a beat; I’m building everything from scratch, shaping the vibe, mixing it, and bringing the final product to life.

Q: What are you most proud of in your journey so far?
A: One of my proudest moments was being featured on iHeartRadio. It showed me that the work I’m putting in is reaching places I used to dream about. I’m also proud of how far I’ve come on my own—teaching myself to produce, record, and engineer. But honestly, what means the most is pushing through challenges. I was born with sickle cell, and instead of letting that hold me back, I used it as motivation. Every milestone is bigger because I know what I had to fight through to get here.

Q: What sets you apart from other artists?
A: My story, my independence, and the world I come from. I moved to Atlanta at eight years old, and the city shaped my whole identity—my style, my sound, my motivation. I grew up watching my uncle and brother promote music and record in the studio, so I’ve been around this grind my whole life. On top of that, I create my music from start to finish: producing, writing, recording, engineering. My sound is authentic because it’s 100% me.
And most importantly, I use my platform to show kids with sickle cell that you can chase big dreams no matter what you’re born with. That purpose sets me apart more than anything.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I want to give a big shoutout to TheLeague — everyone who supports my music, stays tapped in, and is always ready for the next drop. Y’all are the reason I keep pushing. Shoutout to my entire family, especially my mom and pops for always holding me down since day one. And lastly, shoutout to Big God — none of this would be possible without Him.
