Conversations with Jasmine Mitchell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Mitchell.

Hi Jasmine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
“Absolutely. My journey started back in 2016 when I decided to step out on faith and create Chocolate Creations Hair Company. I’ve always had a passion for beauty, hair, and making people feel confident, so getting my cosmetology license was the foundation. Once I stepped into the industry, I realized there was a real need for high-quality, reliable hair extensions and services that matched the level of care clients deserved.

I started small — just me, my skills, and the vision I had for my brand. Over the years, through consistency, learning, and rebuilding when necessary, I was able to elevate Chocolate Creations into a luxury hair company. I’ve relaunched, expanded my product quality, and really focused on creating an experience, not just a service. Every challenge pushed me to grow, and every client reminded me why I started.

Today, Chocolate Creations Hair Company is stronger than ever. I’m proud of how far it’s come and even more excited about where it’s going. My goal has always been to merge quality, creativity, and confidence — and that’s exactly what I continue to build within my brand.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every part of the journey has shaped me. Starting my business in 2016, I had the passion and the vision, but I had to learn a lot hands-on — everything from sourcing quality hair to managing clients, branding, and keeping up with the demand. There were times I had to completely step back, rebuild, and relaunch to make sure Chocolate Creations matched the standard I wanted to represent.

One of the biggest challenges was staying consistent through personal life changes and the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. Building a brand from scratch takes patience, sacrifice, and a lot of faith. I’ve also faced challenges with finding trustworthy vendors, balancing being both the stylist and the business owner, and navigating the financial side of running a company.

But those struggles taught me resilience. Every obstacle pushed me to level up my craft, improve my products, and elevate my entire brand. Because of that, Chocolate Creations Hair Company is stronger, more polished, and more intentional today.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
“I’m the owner and founder of Chocolate Creations Hair Company, and I specialize in luxury hair extensions, sew-ins, wig installs, and custom styling. With my cosmetology license and almost a decade of experience, I focus on creating flawless, long-lasting installs that look natural and make my clients feel confident the moment they walk out.

I’m most known for my clean, detailed work — especially my signature sew-ins with bundles from my own Chocolate Creations line. I put a lot of effort into offering hair that’s soft, full, and high-quality, so my clients don’t just get a service, they get an experience.

What I’m most proud of is how far the brand has come. From starting small in 2016 to now offering top-tier luxury hair from the Creamy Gold Rush Collection, every step has been intentional. I’ve relaunched, rebuilt, and invested in making sure my clients receive nothing but the best.

What sets me apart is the combination of quality and care. I don’t rush my work, I pay attention to detail, and I truly care about how my clients feel. I’m not just selling hair — I’m creating looks, building confidence, and providing a luxury experience that reflects the passion behind my brand.”

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
“My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to stay consistent and stay true to your vision. Entrepreneurship can feel overwhelming in the beginning, but if you keep pushing, stay patient, and keep learning, you’ll see your work pay off. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s — move at your own pace.

I also wish I knew earlier how important it is to invest in quality from the start. Whether it’s your products, your branding, or your education, cutting corners will always cost you more later. Surround yourself with people who support your growth, stay open to learning new skills, and don’t be afraid to start small.

Most of all, understand that setbacks are normal. Every challenge teaches you something that will make your business stronger. Keep your faith, trust your process, and remember why you started — that’s what will carry you through.”
