Life & Work with Jodi Craine of East Cobb (Marietta)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Craine.

Hi Jodi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I became interested in photography when I was in high school and decided to major in it in college. When I had my daughter, my husband bought me an SLR digital camera so I could document our family. My passion quickly came back, and grew into a business. I now specialize in high school seniors and love every minute of it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a creative person, the administrative side of running my own business can be a struggle. I’d rather be taking photos than doing paperwork, but it’s an important part of the job.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a photographer, my art has changed with me, throughout the stages of my kids’ lives. I now specialize in high school senior photography and it truly is my passion. I feel so proud to have a career where I can make young girls and boys feel confident and comfortable in their skin. These kids come to their sessions with such a wonderful contagious energy, and it is so exciting to work with them.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned is that it’s okay to be myself and confident in my work. It is so easy to get imposter syndrome and compare to the work of others, but I learned how to shut the noise out. Social media is a huge part of my job now, which seems scary since it can be toxic, but once I embraced it positively it became a creative tool.
