Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Johnson.
Hi Alexandria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Prissy Potions while working a corporate insurance job. It began as a creative outlet—I was making body care products for myself and sharing them with coworkers, and the demand grew quickly.
A major turning point came when I sent products to Tabitha Brown and Choyce Brown. They both shared Prissy Potions on live, and that exposure brought in a wave of new customers.
While that moment led to the biggest sales day and week I’d ever had, what mattered more was what happened after. Those customers stayed. To this day, a large portion of my community—about 60%—found me through Tabitha, and they’re still purchasing years later.
That experience showed me I wasn’t just creating hype products; I was building trust. From there, I focused on consistency, quality, and customer experience, and that’s how Prissy Potions has grown into what it is today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges early on was learning how to scale without losing quality—especially when demand picked up quickly. I was juggling growth with limited resources, a full-time job at the time, and motherhood, so time and energy were always stretched. There was burnout, a lot of trial and error, and plenty of lessons learned the hard way.
Even now, while I’ve overcome certain struggles and gained experience, entrepreneurship always finds a way to present a new one lol. That’s the part that’s unique—you really never know what kind of day you’re going to get. But every challenge sharpens you, and that constant learning is what keeps me committed to the journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I run Prissy Potions, a handmade skincare brand known for using natural ingredients that actually smell good and last. A lot of natural body care is either lightly scented or completely unscented and, honestly, kind of boring. I bridge that gap—you don’t have to choose between clean ingredients and a product that makes you feel good using it. You can have both.
I specialize in body care for dry and sensitive skin, including people dealing with eczema, irritation, or uneven tone. My products are effective without feeling heavy or greasy, and they’re made to fit into real, everyday routines.
What I’m most proud of is the loyalty of my customers. Many of my Potionettes have been with me for years, and that kind of retention tells me the products are doing what they’re supposed to do. What sets me apart is that I’m deeply hands-on and customer-led—I listen, I adjust, and I stay consistent. I don’t chase trends; I focus on quality, trust, and experience.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about Atlanta is the Southern culture and the sense of community—it still feels warm and familiar, even as the city continues to grow. Even though I’m technically on the outskirts like everyone else lol, that Southern hospitality is still very present.
What I like least is definitely the traffic. It can be a lot, so I’m grateful I work from home and don’t have to deal with it daily.
