Community Highlights: Meet Nancy Davordzi of Fireside Jamaican Restaurant, AfroVibez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Davordzi.

Hi Nancy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with a deep love for food, culture, and community. I began by opening Fireside Jamaican Restaurant with the goal of creating a space that felt like home while serving authentic Jamaican cuisine. What started as a single location grew into a multi-location restaurant in metro Atlanta, built through consistency, long hours, learning from mistakes, and staying committed to quality and service. Over the years, Fireside became more than a restaurant—it became a community staple.
As my business experience grew, so did my passion for celebrating culture beyond food. That led me to create Zuri Culture, a brand rooted in African and Caribbean heritage, storytelling, and pride in identity. From there, I founded AfroVibez, an annual cultural experience that celebrates African Union Day by bringing together Africans, Caribbeans, and the diaspora through food, music, and intentional connection.
Along the way, many entrepreneurs began asking for guidance, which inspired me to launch Table Talk Consulting. Through this work, I help food and hospitality businesses move from concept to kitchen by providing practical support in operations, branding, and sustainability.
Today, my journey is shaped by growth, resilience, and purpose. Every venture I build is connected by one mission: to honor culture, create opportunities, and build community through meaningful, impactful work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—it hasn’t been a smooth road. Building and growing Fireside Jamaican Restaurant came with financial challenges, staffing issues, long hours, and constant problem-solving. There were moments of uncertainty and tough decisions, especially while trying to grow without losing quality or culture.
Launching Zuri Culture and AfroVibez brought their own challenges, particularly securing sponsors and funding to support large-scale cultural experiences. Finding partners who aligned with the mission while believing in the vision took persistence and resilience. Table Talk Consulting also required learning through setbacks and balancing vision with strategy. Each challenge became a lesson that strengthened my leadership and helped shape where I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Fireside Jamaican Restaurant, AfroVibez ?
I am an entrepreneur and cultural curator whose work centers on food, culture, and community impact. I am the founder of Fireside Jamaican Restaurant, a multi-location restaurant in metro Atlanta known for authentic Jamaican cuisine, consistency, and community presence, with locations at 7046 Covington Hwy, Lithonia, GA; 2710 Bouldercrest Rd, Atlanta, GA; and 8293 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA.
I also lead AfroVibez, a cultural platform dedicated to amplifying Afro culture across the diaspora. AfroVibez organizes two flagship events annually in Atlanta—African Day in May and AfroBall in November—bringing together Africans, Caribbeans, and the global Black community through food, music, fashion, and intentional connection.
In addition, I run Table Talk Consulting, where I help food and hospitality entrepreneurs move from concept to kitchen through practical, real-world guidance. Across all my ventures, my focus is building intentional brands that celebrate culture, create opportunity, and leave lasting impact.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was naturally curious and introspective. I loved reading and researching, and I spent a lot of time learning on my own. I was raised in a Pan-African household, which exposed me to culture, history, and global perspectives from a young age. That upbringing played a major role in shaping my passion for culture and community.
Personality-wise, I have always been more introverted, observant, and intentional. I found joy in creating rather than being the loudest in the room. I also developed a deep love for cooking and hosting, and I genuinely enjoyed watching people experience and appreciate my food. That combination of curiosity, culture, and creativity continues to influence both who I am and the work I do today.
