Today we’d like to introduce you to Phallon Foxworth.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from Detroit, MI and initially moved to Atlanta to attend Spelman College. My experiences with therapy and my love for the show Criminal Minds as a teenager led me to know I wanted to work in the field of psychology. Through internships, mentorship, and exposure to career pathways in the field, I realized I wanted to become a therapist and support people in their pursuit of growth and wellness, especially Black women and young adults. As I continued my work in the field, I recognized a disconnect that many of my clients struggled with in applying the changes we discussed in session to their everyday lives. So I created All is Well Collective to build a space for accountability, camaraderie, support, and well-being, regardless of whether someone is in therapy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout my journey, I learned to advocate for myself and my identity as a Black woman and supported people through incredibly difficult and traumatic periods in their lives. I had to learn to take up space confidently, remind myself that my efforts merit my rewards, recognize that I don’t have to earn rest, and not be so afraid of confronting issues or injustice that I become complacent. I started my career at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which required me to rapidly develop my skills as a therapist while managing my own and my clients’ experiences. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that although the path was bumpy, these challenges were essential in shaping me into the person I needed to become.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about All is Well Counseling & Collective?
All is Well Counseling is a small private practice specializing in working with Black women, particularly young adults, college students, and early-career professionals. I utilize CBT, solution-focused, and person-centered approaches to working with clients. I’m also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. So, pretty much, I love affirmations and building my clients’ self-esteem. I encourage my clients to move toward available and realistic solutions to their problems. I emphasize how much our thoughts influence our perspectives and realities. And I’m trained in a specific approach that helps clients process trauma differently from traditional talk therapy.
All is Well Collective is a growing community centered on working toward holistic wellness and not doing it alone. With so many people in the Atlanta area being transplants and the prominence of hustle culture, my goal is to carve out a place for us to focus on more than success and grinding, and to build a firm foundation as individuals to reach our goals without sacrificing our well-being.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Although I do speaking engagements and work in a profession that requires me to talk all day, I am a big introvert. I love my alone time and being quiet.
