Conversations with Ansley Wall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ansley Wall.

Hi Ansley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, Im Ansley.
The creative behind the camera. I’ve been a photographer for the majority of my life and have since dipped my toe into every genre of photography from wedding photography to senior portraits to maternity photos and everything in between. As much as I love to document precious memories, I began to lose the passion I once felt when I was simply capturing people…
not moments.
I fell off for a while and lost the ambition I once had. I was sitting in a stairwell at my day job during lunch break when it hit me. I realized that my passion was capturing art through creative portraiture. I love to invoke a feeling, to highlight beauty, to tell a story, to capture magic. Portraiture gives me the opportunity to fulfill my calling as an artist while capturing the natural beauty of another. I am currently returning to school to pursue architecture and hope to one day have the funds to open a studio for my photography. I don’t know if it will ever be my full time gig to be a photographer, but it’s a passion that I will never give up. I live to create.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not always been easy, no. There have been many times where I thought that my business would pick up and I would gain more recurring clients, but then I would hit a slow point. Marketing is also not my strong suit and yet being a solo creative requires a TON of social media efforts and social media is a whole full time job that has never paid me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My photography endeavors are very geared towards portraiture and movement. I’m not one to strictly pose a client or capture simply for the sake of memory. I capture to show my client the beauty and magic that I see through my lens that maybe they are unable to see in themselves. My favorite form of photography is fantasy photography; though I’m also open to maternity shoots with a fun twist; senior portraits geared around showing who the subject is and creatively expressing who they are rather than just their cap and gown or senior jersey; boudoir shoots that invoke confidence in the client like they’ve never felt before; headshots for the fellow creative that really exudes their essence; or couple portraits that allow for the expression of love to show through artistic expression. I love to carry out a vision and make it come to life.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I’m an artist. And as an artist I feel as though my artistic vision is the most important quality to my success. Being able to see something in my mind before it ever reaches my lens.
