Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Benson.
Hi Princess, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
“Thirteen years ago, I parlayed my passion for beauty into business and debuted “Pibona” Growing up in Nigeria as a teenager I struggled with acne and sought effective solutions to improve my skin.
The high-end products were beyond my reach, so I researched natural alternatives and got all the organic ingredients I could find and I started making homemade body butters and body oils, which were effective so I began selling them to friends and family. Overtime I couldn’t meet up with the demand. So I channeled my passion on providing beauty services as a makeup artist, an interesting journey in itself. Years later while studying in England, I began working towards creating my beauty products but this time on a larger scale. I researched for beauty product manufacturers. At that time the minimum order quantities were unrealistic for a budding entrepreneur, but I eventually found a manufacturer in New York who was willing to work with me. Fast forward to January 2013, I debuted a full cosmetic line, it was a dream come true for me , after the debut I tried to merchandise however , beauty retailers turned me down, saying, “Nobody knows you; you’re not a celebrity, no one will buy it.”still
I didn’t relent, I persisted, and I got to merchandise with some companies. That was the turning point. Driven by a desire to grow my business, I attended trade shows, exhibitions, and events, and the products started selling out. This gave me so much joy and a deeper sense of purpose. Years later, I relocated to Atlanta and challenged myself to scale up. And in no time our products were sold and distributed globally. Thirteen years after our debut, Pibona has sold thousands of products through channels like Amazon, Walmart and various brick and mortar stores. Over the years, we’ve supported our community by joining networks, participating in local events in Georgia, hosting giveaways, and offering training and mentorship. Through this journey I realized at an early stage that image is important and connected to self-esteem.Our motto at Pibona is “beauty without limits,” And I’m glad that If I can help improve someone’s self-esteem with my natural skincare products, I feel I am fulfilling purpose. Through it all it has been an incredible journey meeting amazing people who find peace, solutions, and fulfillment through our products.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My desire to build , create and learn new things surpassed my fear of failing. Every challenge I’ve faced has become a stepping stone and greater learning experience of my true strength. Through this journey
I have had to deal with supply chain issues , Market Competition as trying to stay ahead of competitors in a saturated market can be difficult. But one thing I’ve learned is the blessing is in the person and not the place. So wherever I find myself I know I’m going to thrive and overcome whatever challenge I might encounter.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Resilience: this has allowed me as a business leader to adapt to challenges and setbacks. Being able to bounce back from failures and maintaining focus also being resilient has made it easier for me to pivot strategies and solutions in tough times.
Patience: over the years I’ve learned that to attain sustainable growth being patient is essential, I have been able to understand that success often takes time.
Patience has helped me foster the ability to wait for long-term outcomes rather than rushing for quick wins.
Persistence: In running Pibona I have maintained a relentless pursuit of my goals despite obstacles and failures. I’ve kept a persistent attitude in overcoming challenges, and that has helped me face hurdles push through difficulties and achieve my objectives.
But Most importantly I would say is
Prayer: which has been my root and foundation in building the business, praying through every season has provided a sense of peace, guidance, and strength. As a business leader prayer has always been a source of clarity in my decision-making and a way to cope with the stress of running a thriving business.
These qualities have collectively enhanced my business and given me the ability to navigate the complexities of the marketplace, maintain motivation, build a supportive culture, and ultimately drive sustainable success.
