Life & Work with Tajmaher Thomas of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tajmaher Thomas.

Hi Tajmaher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2020, after being laid off from my full-time job as a logistics coordinator, I finally had time to reflect. It was the third layoff I had experienced in just three years, and during quarantine I began questioning my direction and purpose.

During that time, I met a photographer who was also a videographer and filmmaker. He had written a short film and approached me about being a part of it. After reading the script, I agreed—and that experience changed everything. Being on set and stepping into a character awakened something in me that I couldn’t ignore.

That short film became the turning point. I made the decision to pursue acting as a career and committed myself fully to the craft. I began attending networking events, going to casting calls, and putting myself in rooms where opportunities could find me. Along the way, I’ve been referred by creators for roles and have continued building experience one project at a time.

I know I still have a lot to learn, but I also know this journey is worth it. No matter how many “no’s” I hear, I will keep going—because my ultimate goal is to become a full-time actress, and I’m determined to see it through.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest challenges in this journey has been virtual auditions. I’m still mastering the art of self-taping—finding the right framing, lighting, and delivery while making sure my performance feels natural and connected through the camera. It’s a learning process that continues to push me outside my comfort zone.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Outside of acting, I’m a licensed massage therapist, a career that’s taught me the importance of connection, presence, and understanding the human body.
I’m also an event host, creating vibrant spaces through experiences like karaoke nights and ladies’ nights, including a signature sexy walk contest.
I’m most proud of my persistence. Transitioning from a full-time career in logistics to becoming a massage therapist and actor/host wasn’t easy but I stayed committed. . .

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’m grateful to have so many people who support my acting career, and I’d like to take a moment to recognize a few whose continued encouragement has meant so much to me. I want to thank Keyboard Money Mike for believing in me and casting me in my first film, Dr. Sasha Johnson for referring me for my first hosting opportunity, and Xica Brewer for supporting me and helping me secure my first leading role in a full-length film. Their belief in me helped open doors and played an important role in my growth.
