Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris “Q. Smitty” Smith.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started consistently announcing in 2022 with a few interim roles for football the years prior. I’ve announced for Football, Basketball, and Volleyball, with a few games for baseball and softball. I aspire to advance through the ranks from High School to Professional level. Clark Atlanta University is the first university that I’ve announced for on a collegiate level. It feels good to hear my voice on stadium speakers and experience the electric vibe of the crowd’s excitement from the announcements I make- especially on Senior Nights.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The transition into voice talent challenged me, but growth rarely is. Before stepping into PA announcing, I spent over seven years behind the mic as the host of “Sunday Vibes with Chris Smith” on a Birmingham-based radio station, sharpening my voice and identity as a media personality. Radio is my first love, and leaving that comfort zone to embrace new opportunities hasn’t always been easy, especially when the future isn’t clearly mapped out. Still, I thrive in moments of uncertainty. I’m confident that the same passion, creativity, and discipline that carried me through radio now fuel my work as a live announcer- whether energizing a sports crowd, commanding an awards stage, or setting the tone for unforgettable events.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a voice talent who specializes in Narration, Animation, and Live Announcing. I have a deep, smooth, and rich quality voice that you won’t find anywhere else, with a talent and drive to match it. My passion for being the voice of a business or sports team is growing stronger daily. Representation is key to success, and I am glad to represent my clients at the highest level achievable.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
