Meet Lynne Moyer of Luminate Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynne Moyer.

Hi Lynne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Luminate Marketing started as just a small, bright idea. Over 15 years ago, when the idea came to mind, I hoped it would change the world. Since 2010, Luminate has served over 500 nonprofits and churches with a singular purpose: to illuminate the messages of Christ in the world. Our team has served those who serve others, a mission and calling that brings us joy and our clients support. By leveraging modern marketing channels, we spread the light of those already creating it in the world, and make the messages of missions visible.

I pursued a business management degree at Purdue University, and assumed I’d work at a company but not run my own. After the economic downturn of 2009, I was left with the option of staying in a career I didn’t love, or to find the courage needed for a leap of faith into finding something else. When nothing else resonated, God led me to start something new; something that would be a light in my life and I hoped also the lives of others.

Entrepreneurship can be stressful and lonely, but it can also be thrilling and inspiring. At times, it can be all of those things. I hope everyone gets to experience what I have: purpose and mission in the work you put your hand and heart to. This ride of starting a missional company has been fulfilling, and I can’t wait to see what is waiting for us right around the bends of this coming year.

I believe if my heart stays rooted in the right place, and I have a genuine desire to serve clients in ways most beneficial for them, every day can have purpose and every engagement can have impact.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. In fact, there may be times you wonder if you should turn back around. I don’t know a single founder that hasn’t at one point wondered what they are even doing, whether it matters, and if they are crazy. Many times in history something brand new was thought to be outlandish, because it didn’t fit the mold and had never been done before.

In any business, especially now, finding and retaining top talent can be a challenge. Leadership isn’t just the shiny stuff out front, but the behind the scenes decisions that are hard, confusing, and at times unprofitable. I believe genuinely caring for the humans that work with us as people, not output machines, is important. And also, it is more expensive to go find new talent than to take good care of those already in our care.

Leaders stand in the gap between what is internal and what is external. Navigating that gap and ensuring everyone gets what they need, including you as a leader, isn’t simple. And as environments change both internally and externally, even when you land somewhere it will change again. But that’s what makes it all a thrilling ride.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Luminate Marketing is an award-winning company that serves ministries, churches, and nonprofits with marketing and fundraising excellence. Our commitment is unwavering: we exclusively serve organizations driven by God and by purpose, ensuring their messages reach far and wide. In short, we spread the light of those creating it in the world.

We specialize in strategy, design, and helping organizations get found online through Meta and Google advertising, SEO, social media and email management, and fundraising events. For over 15 years our team has been bringing clarity to nonprofit leadership teams to ensure they can go to donors and advocates with a clear message and consistent mission.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When it comes to taking risks, I can’t imagine building an innovative new company without them. Every meaningful step forward requires a willingness to move before all the answers are clear: to trust your instincts, embrace uncertainty, and learn as you go. Risk isn’t about being reckless but about having the courage to believe in a vision strongly enough to act on it. Some of the most defining moments in my journey came from choosing faith over fear, stepping into the unknown, and discovering that growth, impact, and innovation are almost always found on the other side of comfort.
