Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra And Todd Huggard.
Hi Cassandra and Todd, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Todd and I (Cassandra) started our journey in wedding videography and photography 8-9 years ago now when we made the move to Georgia from Redding, California. Todd had always been interested in film making so we actually started by getting work in the film industry as background extras as we started to explore what a life in film work would look like. We soon realized that it wasn’t what we needed as a growing family, Todd wanted to be able to stay closer to home and be around for the littles as they grew up, so film work turned into an incredible opportunity to work in weddings. We made some great connections and friends in the industry that really helped get us off the ground. We took major risks by quitting day jobs and took a leap of faith into doing this full time before most probably would have. By the grace of God we really took off. We added doing photography shortly after. I personally was really interested in photo journalism in school, and had dreamt of wanting to work for National Geographic at some point of my life. I find great joy in documenting a wedding day. It’s a pleasure to continue to learn and grow and perfect my craft to be able to capture the best moments in the best of ways. Now we are excited to start offering film photography to our wedding days, and we have expanded into multi-state and international weddings.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think with any business there are definitely struggles. But has been relatively smooth honestly. The hardest challenge comes with working from home with young children while homeschooling.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Todd and I are a husband/wife team mastering both photography and videography. We specialize in capturing and documenting luxury weddings. We meld editorial and documentary styles into a day full of emotion and joy. We are known for a true to color, bright and timeless style, our emotive black and white imagery, and our story telling wedding films that will transport you right back to your day. We are fun and quirky and love to have a good time with our couples, making an effort to be laughing throughout the day.
What makes you happy?
I’m happy when life feels beautiful, calm, purposeful, and creatively alive. Like When I’m riding a horse at a full gallop through a field, fresh mountain air, the sand between my toes, and the sounds of the ocean. The beautiful sights and sounds of our children laughing. The peacefulness of kayaking on a foggy morning, or the invigorating feeling of jumping into an ice cold waterfall after a hard hike. Creating space for something new. Exploring new places and meeting new friends, all these things make me immensely happy. Because it connects me, grounds me back to being present.
