Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Big Black Biscuit is a cultural streetwear brand and full-service skateboard shop rooted in resilience, creativity, and authenticity. Founded by a lifelong skateboarder born in Milwaukee in 1973, the brand carries a unique legacy — from ten years as a punk rock roadie across California and Arizona to finding permanent roots in Atlanta at the dawn of Y2K.
After a devastating motorcycle crash caused by rogue police officers left the founder paralyzed, he refused to be broken. From his wheelchair, he built Big Black Biscuit from the ground up, transforming pain into purpose and creating a movement that blends skateboarding, art, and social impact.
Today, Big Black Biscuit stands as more than just a brand. Backed by a team of professional skateboard athletes, it fuels individuality, curates cultural events , art and music, and represents the true spirit of the Dirty South D.I.Y. skate and D.I.Y. streetwear ARTE scene.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Well living with paralysis is a life changing boomerang of challenges, challenges of your character, challenges of your mental health struggles from trauma, it’s a great day if I don’t pee myself wet or shit storm in my lap, good day indeed. Everyday above ground is a beautiful day! The best way to tackle adversity is with creativity. If you’re developing rage it’s par for the course.
