Today we’d like to introduce you to Areigna Preston.
Areigna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I struggled early on. Growing up poor I didn’t have money for college, so I took every job I could get my hands on to learn and understand what type of job would work best for me. I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder after my youngest son was also diagnosed. With two young kids, I finally got focused and went to medical school on a WV Pell Grant and earned my osteopathic manual therapy degree and my massage therapy licensure. I feel I found my calling, because I absolutely LOVE helping people on their wellness journey.
In my free time I love being anywhere in nature, traveling to experience new cultures, and writing. I have two published novels.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. As a woman in the medical field, it has been difficult to get colleagues to respect me. My patients trust and respect me, but without the support and respect of doctors and other colleagues, I couldn’t get traction to be more effective. I needed to be able to structure my time and schedule as I felt would best assist my patients and clients. So I opened my own clinic.
We’ve been impressed with Profound Wellness, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Profound Wellness is an escape from stress! As with other medical fields, we continue our education with updates and more classes each year. Profound Wellness provides medical massage therapy to enhance wellness, decrease stress, and reduce stress-related chronic health issues. Our intention is to provide a medically therapeutic massage for each individual’s needs to support each person as they make changes to increase their health, happiness, and well-being… in both their personal and professional lives.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I feel successful every day a patient tells me they received multiple days of relief between sessions. Every time a patient leaves feeling better after their session is a little success.
