Today we’d like to introduce you to Khushi Patel.
Hi Khushi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began with XVI, which grew out of a personal desire to simplify self-care and reconnect with intention. I found myself overwhelmed by excess, too many products, too much noise, and wanted a more thoughtful, sustainable approach to beauty.
That vision led to the creation of AURORA, a multi-use nourishing oil designed for hair, face, and body. It was important to me that the product felt both effective and grounding, something that encouraged presence rather than overconsumption.
XVI is rooted in the idea that beauty doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. What started as a personal solution has grown into a brand centered on ritual, balance, and mindful living, and I continue to build it with those values at the core.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Building XVI has come with its share of challenges, especially learning to do many things for the first time, from product development and sourcing to navigating manufacturing timelines and growth with limited resources.
One of the biggest lessons has been patience. There were moments where progress felt slower than expected, or where I had to pause, reassess, and trust my vision instead of rushing. I’ve also learned how important adaptability is, being open to change while staying rooted in the brand’s values.
Each challenge has helped shape XVI into what it is today.
The process has taught me resilience, clarity, and the importance of building intentionally rather than quickly.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about XVI?
XVI is a self-care brand built around intention, simplicity, and ritual. At the heart of the brand is AURORA, our single, multi-use nourishing oil designed for hair, face, and body.
Rather than offering many products, XVI focuses on doing one thing well. AURORA was created to simplify daily routines, reduce excess, and support a more mindful approach to self-care without compromising quality or effectiveness. Every detail, from formulation to usage, is designed to feel grounding, efficient, and intentional.
What sets XVI apart is this commitment to restraint and purpose. I’m most proud that the brand has stayed true to its original vision, growing slowly and thoughtfully while remaining aligned with its values. XVI isn’t about more, it’s about better.
I want readers to know that the brand invites them to slow down, simplify, and turn everyday care into a meaningful ritual.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe luck plays a role, but preparation and intention matter just as much. There have been moments of good timing, the right conversation, the right opportunity, the right person believing in the vision, that felt like luck. At the same time, there were setbacks and delays that initially felt like bad luck but ultimately protected the brand or clarified my direction.
Building XVI has taught me that what looks like luck is often the result of patience, consistency, and staying aligned with your values. I’ve learned to trust timing, stay open, and keep showing up even when progress feels slow. In many ways, the “luck” has been the ability to listen, adapt, and continue building with purpose.
