Today we’d like to introduce you to Maurice Ball.
Hi Maurice , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a love for fashion, branding, entrepreneurship, networking, business, music, management, and investing. Quite a bit of umbrellas right? So how could I fit multiple facets under one umbrella? With my grandad being an entrepreneur, my dad being an investor, and my uncle being a dj, music was a no brainer! It is in my blood, not to mention being in the Atlanta area, it’s in my face. I created a platform music label branded off of the last name: Ball Starz Ent. It started as music management and artist development and evolved into a brand that generated clothes for promotion. Shirts, sweatsuits, and even bikinis began to gain traction. The logo is simple, however it’s the custom colorways that make it all pop. “Whatever color you want, I can get!”, is what I tell them and they love having that option. They choose colors to match their shoes, colors of their favorite sports team, even colors to compliment upcoming vacations! This venture allowed me to work every facet of my favor. Shifts in fashion and music make it challenging to remain culturally relevant at times; however, I keep an open ear to what’s going on and an open mind to new waves and trends.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At times. Once established and traction is created along with an expanded network, opportunities come to you. Natural challenges such as family and work/life balance makes it difficult regarding time management and being physically available and accessible for events. Great thing is Atlanta always has some type of social network or events going on often.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am known for managing artists and finding/creating opportunities for them. I am also known for being in the mix and culturally relevant. I am proud to be a light of success for the young generation under me. Proud to be an inspirational to people of all ages and races. What sets me apart? Ambition and work ethic. Discipline and vision. Understanding that longevity is paramount and knowing how to hang in there during difficult times is key.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me most is unlocking and achieving positive, realistic goals and dreams. It’s so easy to be influenced and distracted these days, that finding drive and direction can be more challenging than one may think despite having many resources at our fingertips. We need creators, we need innovators and entrepreneurs. We need people to love them, appreciate them, and support them. That’s what fuels the world to continue going round.
