Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanette Goulart.
Jeanette, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I heard a voice, YES! There. I said it! I was 7, and it felt right, it felt true, it filled me with JOY! THIS is why I feel connection is so important. THAT was my earliest connection to something bigger. I choose to call it god. Cripes, I would set up a cardboard box and sell drawings on the street for 25 cents. LOL, I KNEW I was an artist! However, I fell back into the shuda coulda’s for years. I went into hairdressing and created a wonderful life for myself. Ya, I veered off my path, but never forgot about that weird and wonderful first experience as a child. Today, that connection is re-created every time I paint.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create fun and freeing abstract art using mixed media. I let the work speak to me [on a good day, lol] My pieces are my children and every piece wants to have its own voice, like a child, it wants to be unique, individual. I use every tool in my toolbox to get it there.
My WHY. I create because it’s the way I connect to myself and god. It is deeply satisfying and fulfilling. It is my greatest gift and my deepest joy.
The message is: Art is alive, joyful and spiritual.
My art transmits joy and freedom. It is definitely emotive.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
O for sure TENACITY! Confidence in oneself and one’s ability. Love. Love of self, love of your dream. Belief in yourself.
Define success? I think for me it’s when I’m working consistently at what I love and it’s holding me up financially.
