Rising Stars: Meet Amanda & Chad Hudgins of Atlanta Metro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda & Chad Hudgins.

Hi Amanda & Chad, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Chad and Amanda Hudgins, the owners of Get Your Goat Rentals, both come from strong backgrounds in animal husbandry. Chad is a lifelong Georgian, and Amanda grew up on a ranch in Oklahoma. In 2018, they moved back to Chad’s family farm in West Georgia to raise their family and continue their agricultural roots.

Coming from Oklahoma, Amanda was amazed by how fast and thick vegetation grows in Georgia. What started as a simple request for a small goat pen quickly became something much bigger. Chad built a one-acre enclosure so Amanda could have a few pet goats — and within weeks, those goats had completely cleared it. Watching them transform overgrown land into usable pasture sparked an idea.

By 2021, that idea turned into reality. Chad and Amanda learned that an established grazing company was for sale and knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring their vision to life. They jumped in, combining their passion for animals, land stewardship, and community service to grow what is now Get Your Goat Rentals — helping Georgia property owners manage invasive vegetation naturally, safely, and sustainably.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When Chad and Amanda took over Get Your Goat Rentals, the company was struggling with a difficult reputation due to poor management under previous ownership. Rather than walking away from the challenge, they saw an opportunity to rebuild something meaningful.

Over the last five years, they have poured their hearts and souls into transforming the business from the ground up — implementing reliable scheduling, humane animal care standards, clear communication with clients, and a community-first approach. Every fence line, every grazing project, and every customer interaction has been guided by one goal: restoring trust through consistency, transparency, and results.

Today, Get Your Goat Rentals is proud to be known not just for what the goats can do, but for how the business treats people — with integrity, professionalism, and genuine care for the land and the community it serves.
A New Vision for Get Your Goat Rentals

Two of the most important changes Chad and Amanda made after taking over the company were a complete rebrand and the strategic addition of sheep alongside goats for grazing.

The rebrand wasn’t just about a new look — it was about redefining what Get Your Goat Rentals stands for: professionalism, reliability, animal welfare, and community trust. Every part of the business, from customer communication to daily operations in the field, was redesigned to match that higher standard.

Adding sheep to the grazing program transformed what the company could offer. Goats and sheep have very different grazing habits, and together they create a more balanced and effective form of vegetation management. Goats target woody plants, vines, and invasive species like kudzu and ivy, while sheep focus on grasses and ground cover. By using both, properties are cleared more thoroughly, regrowth is slowed, and land recovers more naturally.

This mixed-species approach allows Get Your Goat Rentals to deliver cleaner, longer-lasting results while improving soil health and reducing the need for chemicals or mechanical clearing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Amanda Hudgins grew up in Oklahoma on a small horse farm, where her father trained mounted patrol horses. From an early age, she learned the discipline, patience, and care it takes to work with animals — especially animals that are both powerful and highly trained. That upbringing gave her a deep respect for livestock, land, and the people who care for them.

Chad Hudgins is a West Georgia native who went to college in Tennessee, where he discovered his passion for cattle. What began as an interest quickly became a career. Chad went on to travel across the country managing cattle farms and show cattle operations, building a reputation for excellence in animal care and performance.

As his expertise grew, Chad became one of the most sought-after show cattle fitters in the country, traveling nationwide to clip, fit, and prepare elite cattle for competition at the highest levels. His work demanded not only technical skill, but an exceptional understanding of animal behavior, nutrition, health, and presentation.

Before purchasing Get Your Goat Rentals, Chad was hired to take on a major challenge: transforming more than 800 acres of cut-over land into a sustainable, productive cattle operation. Through strategic grazing, fencing, herd management, and land rehabilitation, he helped turn depleted ground into thriving pasture — proving firsthand that livestock can be one of the most powerful tools for environmental restoration.

That same philosophy now drives Get Your Goat Rentals.

Together, Chad and Amanda combined their backgrounds in animal husbandry, land stewardship, and agricultural business to rebuild and grow the company. What began as a struggling operation has become a trusted, community-focused grazing service — rooted in experience, integrity, and a genuine love for animals and the land.

More Than Grazing — A Community Experience

Get Your Goat Rentals was built on the belief that goats don’t just improve land — they bring people together.

Over the years, we’ve created a variety of community-focused events that allow families, schools, and neighborhoods to connect with our animals in meaningful and memorable ways. These include Goat Grams (short surprise visits with the goats), professional photo shoots, our annual pumpkin-eating contest at Dunwoody Park, and Christmas tree pick-ups where goats recycle holiday trees in the most entertaining way possible.

Beyond the fun, our goats also serve a deeper purpose. We regularly visit Ronald McDonald House, memory care facilities, schools, and other community organizations, where the animals provide comfort, joy, and hands-on learning experiences for people of all ages. From children meeting goats for the first time to seniors reconnecting with memories of farm life, these visits are often the most meaningful part of what we do.

For us, Get Your Goat Rentals isn’t just a land-clearing service — it’s a way to bring agriculture, nature, and happiness back into the heart of our communities.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The Qualities That Set Us Apart

At Get Your Goat Rentals, we are driven by more than just grazing goats — we are driven by responsibility, integrity, and a deep respect for the land, our animals, and the people we serve.

Animal-first care
Our background in professional livestock management means our goats and sheep are never treated as tools. Their health, safety, nutrition, and low-stress handling always come first. Well-cared-for animals work better, live longer, and create better results for our clients.

True land stewardship
We don’t just clear vegetation — we help heal land. Our approach is rooted in rotational grazing, soil recovery, erosion control, and long-term vegetation management. Every property is treated as an ecosystem, not a quick-fix job.

Professional reliability
After taking over a struggling operation, we rebuilt this business on clear schedules, honest communication, and accountability. We show up when we say we will, we do what we promise, and we stand behind our work.

Problem-solving mindset
No two properties are the same. Steep hillsides, invasive species, fence challenges, access issues — we love solving the hard jobs others won’t touch. That comes from decades of livestock and land-management experience.

Community-first business
We live here. Our kids go to school here. Our animals graze here. We believe in serving our neighbors with fairness, transparency, and respect — not treating them like transactions.

Long-term relationships, not one-time jobs
Our goal isn’t just to clear your land once — it’s to become your trusted partner for keeping it healthy for years to come.
