BayLee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was very lucky in starting my business! I was working as an office manager at a psychological services office and when I decided to leave to make better money all of the providers (therapists and psychiatrist) decided to come with me. When we branched out there was 5 of us and through word of mouth from my original 5 I now have 13 providers that I provide admin and billing service for!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This was one of the scariest leaps of faith I have ever experienced, however, it being very much attached to the mental health field I have had such a HUGE amount of support and tons of cheerleaders!
We’ve been impressed with Mares Administrative Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I provide private practice set up, patient billing, insurance billing, and general administrative (scheduling/calendar support/patient communications) support to private practice mental health care providers. There are a few things that set me apart from the typical billing companies: I supply services al la carte, I have providers who see clients and go home and I handle all of their day to day operations and I have some providers that I just do their insurance billing. In relation to that I charge a flat fee for my services ( most other billing only services charge a percentage). The reason that makes me stand out is that, If I do not ensure that my clients are getting paid then they cannot pay me. That fact drives my business to a 98% paid insurance claim rate which sounds like it should be in the norm, however, the industry standard for insurance claim rate is only 65% .
I am so proud of the growth my business has seen in the last few years. I truly never thought I would be able to have my name on a building and that other professionals would trust me and my name to support their private practices and I feel absolutely honored to be apart of that.
