Inspiring Conversations with Raneen Abdou of Ray Beauty Lounge & Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raneen Abdou.

Hi Raneen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before moving to the United States, I worked as a lawyer in my home country. When I came here, I began thinking seriously about business and where I wanted to invest my energy. I was naturally drawn to the beauty industry because I genuinely enjoy it and connect with it.

This wasn’t about chasing a dream it was about choosing what I love and where I see myself as a businesswoman. The beauty industry allowed me to combine creativity, independence, and entrepreneurship, and it gave me the opportunity to build something of my own.
Over the years, I pursued formal education and earned my Master Cosmetology license, continuously expanding my expertise in hair, makeup, and advanced beauty services. What truly shaped my path was my desire to create a safe, welcoming, and professional space for women where they could feel comfortable, respected, and beautifully taken care of.

That vision led me to open Ray Beauty Lounge & Salon, a ladies-only salon built on quality, trust, and personalized care. Through hard work, community support, the salon has grown to serve clients for everyday beauty, special events, and bridal looks, as well as participate in fashion shows and local collaborations.

Today, I’m proud of how far this journey has come, but I see it as just the beginning. I continue to grow, learn, and expand my services with the goal of uplifting women, creating opportunities, and building a brand that reflects passion, professionalism, and purpose.

I’m thankful to my husband, my children Farah and Fuad, and my parents for always believing in me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced challenges at almost every stage of the journey. Balancing family responsibilities while building a business was one of the biggest struggles, especially during the early years when time, finances, and energy were limited.

We’ve been impressed with Ray Beauty Lounge & Salon , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ray Beauty Lounge & Salon is a ladies-only beauty Salon .
We provide professional hair, makeup, and advanced beauty services in a private, welcoming environment where women can truly feel comfortable and confident.

I specialize in hairstyling, color services, bridal and special-event makeup, and customized beauty treatments tailored to each client’s needs. What we’re especially known for is our attention to detail, clean and modern aesthetic, and our ability to listen to our clients and deliver results that enhance their beauty.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built. Many of our clients come through word-of-mouth, referrals, and repeat visits, which means everything to me. I’m also proud of how the brand represents growth, resilience, and quality. We’ve had the honor of participating in fashion shows, collaborations, and community events, which reflects the level of work and dedication behind the brand.

What I want readers to know is that Ray Beauty Lounge is more than just a salon—it’s a space built by a woman, for women. Every service is done with care, passion, and professionalism. My goal is not just to provide beauty services, but to create an experience where every client leaves feeling confident, valued, and empowered.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I view risk as a necessary part of growth, but I believe in taking calculated risks rather than impulsive ones.

One of the biggest risks I took was opening my own ladies-only salon. It required a financial commitment, long hours, and the uncertainty of whether the community would fully embrace the concept. There were moments where I invested in the business before seeing guaranteed returns whether that was upgrading equipment, expanding services, or committing to a physical space. Those decisions were scary, especially while balancing family responsibilities, but they were necessary to build something long-term and meaningful.

Overall, I don’t see myself as reckless, but I am willing to take thoughtful risks when they align with my values and long-term goals.
