Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Mckissick.
Hi Katrina , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In November of 2025 I was scrolling on tiktok and I saw Swan Simpson on fyp. I entered the live to see what she was talking about. She was speaking about review rinse and repeat. I was curious. So I stayed and listened she began to teach about how you could actually earn from doing serious reviews for brands, products and businesses. I found it very interesting and at the time I had lost my job, and was homeless. I had lost everything except my few articles of clothing and personal items such as pictures and books etc. I heard her say something about a contest regarding a review show. I decided to record a video and send it in. After all I didn’t have anything else to lose I thought to myself. I figured I wouldn’t know unless I tried. I did the unimaginable and submitted the video. I actually had missed the deadline and still she accepted my video. Now weeks had went by and I hadn’t heard anything. I told my daughter I said I really hope that win the tv show because I would be the first person in my family to actually be in media and entertainment on televison. I said this could be life-changing for us. My daughter yes moma that would be great and you really deserve nothing but the best. Literally hours after the conversation happened the email came from Coach Swan saying Congratulations you have officially won a Tv show on Black on Demand TV. I couldn’t believe and I just begin to smile and cry at the same time. And I knew that I always wanted to make an impact for my community and family. I begin to think about the concept of my show. What that really meant and how it could actually help african americans especially business owners or aspiring entreprenuers or leaders. I took it personal that I needed to be able to feature as many business owners, leaders, and the hidden talents the gems that no one knows about or just isn’t aware of. I knew that my show would be the one answer that they needed for the world to see them, what they offer, what they do. The narrative has to change and it begins with me by letting the world see that African Americans are more than criminals. We are smart, beautiful, talented, genius and creative. However media has displayed us as a totally different picture. I along with Black on Demand TV we are changing that. I am in no way saying that I am racist. I absolutely am not. Anyone that wants to be seen and heard. Hear me I will come and interview them and feature them on the show. People need to connect with the best businesses and services. They need to be able to be happy and comfortable where they spend their hard earned money. I desire to take the invisible and make them visible and let the connection begin where consumers meets excellence. If they haven’t connected the door is open and I am available. Together let’s build.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it has not because I was homeless while shooting Season 1 and I am currently still living with my daughter. I knew the commitment that I had made I could not quit. With tears in my eyes at times while going out I stilled showed up and got it done. Did the thoughts live my mind that I was homeless no they did not, I had a 16 year old son that has autism that couldn’t understand and I couldn’t cry in front of him. Not to mention that I was afraid because I had never did this before. I had to use my daughters phone because my phone was outdated. I don’t have a new iphone. I have an 11 so I had to work with what was available which was her phone. I was nervous about approacing people to ask them about featuring them on the show. And I lost all my episodes I had saved to the phone. I had to go back out and reshoot them. Which by the way some were live events so I had to substitute. I dealt with the fact that I talk really fast at times and my southern accent comes out that made me feel a bit uncomfortable. It was a struggle finding businesses that wanted to be featured on the show. I don’t know if they were afraid or nervous. Possibly could have thought that I was lying because I don’t look like the celebrity that is seen on TV. Yet I am a real person and I have a tv show with Black on Demand TV livestreaming on the website, Amazon Fire TV and Roku TV. Like listen people I am real. Okay lol
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was pretty much to myself. I did not have alot of friends. I was outgoing and didn’t let others opinion of me dictate my happiness. I loved reading and I still do today. I was real big on taking care of my skin and hair. I kept my hair done and my skin clean and glowing. I also wasn’t afraid to try new trends I had the salt and pepper haircut my freshman year. My mom threw a fit when I came home from the beauty shop. Back then you went to real beauty shops where they actually washed your hair, cared for your hair for real. I wasn’t worried my hair grew pretty fast. I am the oldest of 5. So our household was very busy and always had alot going on. I had to be the Big sister, babysitter, tutor, afterschool care and I didn’t complain my mother worked 2 jobs sometimes 3 so I knew that I had to step and help out which meant I did alot of butt whooping or got the whoopings. People need to start back whooping these kids. They wouldn’t be so out of control and disrespectful. That belt or them switches did not take me out and I am still here. I loved spending time with my family. Most indeed family oriented.
