Meet Saija Areli of Atlanta, Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saija Areli.

Hi Saija, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Saija Areli, and I am a faith-filled, cut-and-sew fashion designer specializing in wedding gowns, prom dresses, custom garments, and precision alterations. What I do goes far beyond passion—this is a calling, a ministry, and a living testimony. Fashion is the seed God planted in me, and over the years I’ve learned how to steward that gift with discipline, humility, and excellence. Every triumph and every lesson refined me into the noble designer I am today.

My journey began with fashion illustration—visions placed in my spirit before they ever touched fabric. Through dreams and divine inspiration, I was introduced to an entirely new world of design, where creativity meets purpose. I don’t just sketch—I translate vision into form, taking garments from concept to completion. As a true cut-and-sew designer, I understand construction intimately: pattern development, fabric behavior, tailoring, and finishing. Every stitch is intentional. Every seam has meaning.

What sets me apart is my attention to detail, mastery of color theory, and ability to create one-of-one designs that tell a story—the client’s story. I design with reverence for the body, confidence in craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. I believe garments should not only be seen, but felt. I am a designer led by faith, grounded in skill, and driven by purpose—and I am one to keep your eyes on.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely wasn’t a smooth road—and I think that’s what shaped me the most. There were seasons of uncertainty, financial strain, creative blocks, and moments where I had to relearn patience and trust, both in God and in myself. I learned that talent alone isn’t enough—you need discipline, structure, and stewardship. I learned how to receive correction, how to slow down and honor process, and how to value craftsmanship over rushing results. Those lessons refined my integrity as a designer and deepened my purpose. Every challenge strengthened my skill, sharpened my vision, and taught me that excellence is built over time, stitch by stitch.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a cut-and-sew fashion designer specializing in wedding gowns, prom dresses, custom garments, and alterations. I work from concept to completion—beginning with fashion illustration, moving through pattern development and fabric selection, and finishing with precise construction and tailoring. I’m known for creating one-of-one pieces that are intentional, detailed, and tailored to the individual.

What I’m most proud of is learning how to welcome God into my work instead of relying solely on my own hands. Once I did that, everything shifted—my patience, my process, and my purpose. This is truly His business, not mine, and that perspective allows me to design with clarity, humility, and excellence. I focus on honoring the craft, the client, and the moment each garment represents.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine technical skill, creative vision, and deep intention. I understand construction at a foundational level, I design with strong attention to detail and color theory, and I guide clients through a thoughtful, collaborative process. My goal is always to create garments that feel elevated, meaningful, and unforgettable.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that Atlanta is such a hub for creativity and diversity. While it’s not New York—where I’m from—it’s definitely following suit with the growing number of creative minds, designers, and innovators here. There’s a real sense of opportunity and collaboration that I appreciate.

At the same time, I’m very aware of the challenges we’re seeing—not just in Atlanta, but everywhere—especially with our youth. Instead of always instilling confidence, well-being, and passion, it can sometimes feel like this generation is moving through a period of uncertainty. That awareness actually fuels me. It pushes me to keep spirits high, lead by example, and use my work to inspire confidence, creativity, and purpose. I believe fashion can be a tool for empowerment, and that’s something I’m deeply committed to.
