Meet Kelly Bigby of Sage & Silva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Bigby.

Hi Kelly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sage and Silva began in 2021, rooted in a season of creativity and intention—my wedding. I chose to DIY all of the personal details, wanting every element to feel meaningful, thoughtful, and uniquely ours. What started as a personal project quickly caught attention. Friends, family, and then strangers began asking, “Can you do this for me?”
At the time, I was working with vinyl on a Cricut machine, but the requests kept growing—and so did my curiosity. I realized I didn’t want to stay small or comfortable. I wanted to challenge myself to think bigger, to create pieces that felt lasting and elevated. That curiosity led me into laser engraving and cutting, which completely transformed what I could offer.
Today, Sage and Silva has grown into a personalization studio that blends craftsmanship, storytelling, and warmth. Every piece still carries that original intention: to create something personal, beautifully made, and meant to be kept—not just used.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. One of the biggest challenges has been marketing: really understanding who my target audience is and learning how to consistently get in front of them. When you’re building something from the ground up, clarity doesn’t always come first—you earn it through trial, error, and listening closely to what resonates.
Another challenge has been customer interaction. As a small business, I’ve encountered moments where people didn’t immediately recognize Sage and Silva as a legitimate operation and tried to dictate how I should run my processes. Learning to stand firm, set boundaries, and advocate for my expertise has been a powerful part of my growth as a business owner.
And finally, knowing my worth has been an ongoing lesson. I take pride in creating high-quality, handcrafted products and believe deeply in price transparency. Finding that balance—where the work is valued appropriately while still feeling accessible—has required confidence, reflection, and trust in the quality of what I deliver.
Each challenge has shaped the business in meaningful ways, pushing me to grow not just as a maker, but as a leader.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sage and Silva is a personalization studio specializing in laser-engraved and custom-designed pieces for individuals, brands, and events. We create thoughtfully crafted items—ranging from everyday housewares to event décor and branded goods—that turn meaningful moments into tangible keepsakes. Our work lives at the intersection of function and sentiment: pieces meant to be used, but also treasured.
What we’re known for is quality, intention, and warmth. Every item is designed with care, from the materials we choose to the details we engrave. We don’t believe personalization should feel mass-produced or rushed. Instead, we focus on creating work that feels considered and lasting—pieces that tell a story.
What truly sets Sage and Silva apart is our approach. We prioritize transparency, collaboration, and craftsmanship. Clients are part of the process, whether they’re ordering a single gift or outfitting an entire event. That hands-on experience, paired with high-quality production, creates results that feel both elevated and personal.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how Sage and Silva has grown while staying rooted in its original values. The brand has evolved, but the heart remains the same: creating beautiful, meaningful products with integrity. I want readers to know that when they work with Sage and Silva, they’re not just purchasing an item—they’re investing in something intentionally made, by a small business that truly cares about the details.

This city is my home. The culture is what keeps me here. There’s literally something for everyone–food, music, art. So much to be appreciated here.

Traffic. That’s it, that’s the message (lol). It’s hard to find something I dislike, to be honest. Every city has its downsides.
